This project is centred around the establishment of 100 one-hectare experimental units (cells) in the field. In each cell, detailed measurements will be taken on sample trees that will be followed all the way through harvesting and bucking into products. The sample-tree data will be complemented with super high-density point clouds (>2000/m2), enhanced forest inventories (EFI), remote sensing data (multispectral satellite imagery), harvester on-board computer (OBC) data and other information.

MBC Group has recently hired two new qualified employees as Laboratory Technicians to work in the MBC Group Laboratory. We have significant external costs for environmental analysis that MBC Group wants to internalize as well as branch into forensic services. We need highly skilled staff to train on and deliver those services, and rely on financial aid to maintain our growth momentum. MBC Group also wants these techs to help research automation in hazmat analysis to better protect workers. This will replace tedious manual analysis so each technician can focus on more skilled lab work. Present analysis is manual but automated systems have been proven for similar tasks. The developed systems will be designed to meet regulatory requirements.

Ecosystem Informatics Inc (ESI) has validated its MVP and de-risked the technology behind it with pilots stress testing the system under real-world environments. This project is to help ESI productize its innovation by preparing it to be platform agnostic when integrating into the customer existing platforms. For this we need to prepare the technology with a framework that enables our system to plug into our customers current platforms. This is a vital step to enable ESI to access the market and scale in the future.
