With GAC’s support, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is working to save lives and help reduce the suffering of people affected by the typhoon. Project activities include: (1) provision of emergency shelter materials such as shelter kits, tarpaulins and essential household items; (2) provision of complementary technical assistance to support safe housing repair; and (3) allocation of conditional cash and voucher assistance to displaced families.

The Catalysing Childcare Action program with the World Bank will address concerns facing governments in their fight against inequalities and poverty and the unequal distribution of care work exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The overarching goal of the program will be to support a gender-responsive post-pandemic recovery through supporting women’s return to work, facilitating children's – particularly girls’ – return to school, and enabling job creation in the childcare sector. Empowering women and girls, promoting childcare and addressing paid and unpaid care work key priorities for the Government of Canada and for the implementation of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP), specifically in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery. The program will promote operational work and research in approximately over 40 low-and middle-income countries, and use this work to increase the interest of governments to prioritize and address childcare in the context of increasingly constrained resources.

This project aims to enhance the engagement of Canadians, especially youth (aged between 12 and 18), in Canada’s international development efforts towards the achievement of the SDGs and FIAP, with a focus on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

Project activities include: (1) Developing a knowledge platform; (2) Showcasing mobile exhibits; (3) Creating a mass media campaign; (4) Broadcasting documentary series.

The project aims to reach 1.3M youth, aged between 12-18, including girls, boys and gender minorities as well as hard-to-reach, indigenous and diaspora populations.
