Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Building a multimodal transportation network database and exploring data collection methods to support transportation operations in the Canadian North
971731
There is currently no centralized database identifying the key facilities and characteristics of the multimodal transportation system in Northern Canada; thus, this Project will examine how winter roads are operated and used. Specifically, the Project will characterize and gather data for connecting facilities such as all-weather roads and marine locations, along with hubs such as aerodromes. The Project will also investigate technologies that can be used for automated data collection at remote transportation facilities that operate in harsh and remote environments, while identifying potential opportunities to fill critical data gaps. Finally, the Project will prepare information collected and/or created for secure transfer and integration into the NRC logistics data vault, which will complement other data in the vault towards providing a more comprehensive picture of Canadian freight networks.

The Chartis RSS autonomous drone solution is complete from a self charging drone house and a vertical take off drone for a variety of missions. The clean tech solution, to be developed, will run off of solar and fuel cells and be completely stand alone from power or communications. In order to maintain complete autonomy the drone will need to solve a challenge around cyber security and risks exposed in the system designed. In addition, development will focus on in-house processes for determining internal processes and requirements for Beyond Visual Line of Site operations in multiple markets both domestically and internationally. Experts in cyber security, AI and flight
regulators will be engaged to prepare for product release.
