The program provides funding to increase capacity for Indigenous and local communities organizations and entities to engage with Transport Canada regarding the rail transportation system.

Advances exploratory research under the New Beginnings Initiative

Raw LiDAR and multi-spectral data will be processed and analyzed to develop a set of spatial map products including digital terrain and vegetation maps.

Project activities include: (1) training health providers in identifying and caring for survivors of gender-based violence; (2) providing health facilities with equipment, health products and medicines; (3) strengthening the organizational capacities of the Network of Women Mediators (Réseau des femmes médiatrices) in raising awareness and caring for survivors of gender-based violence, and in community intervention; and (4) building the capacity of the Women's Training and Education Institutes (instituts de formation et d'éducation féminine) and the Mobile Training Units (Unités mobiles de formation) to offer high-quality and diversified vocational training to women and girls in the Bounkani and Tchologo regions.

This initiative directly benefits around 3,040 people (60% of whom are women) and indirectly benefits 180,182 people living in the communities in the 2 regions targeted by the project.

This will include research, mapping, community consultations, priority planning, project costing and pulling all of the data together in a readable/accessible document.

Develop digital adoption plan

The purpose of this program is to increase Canadians' access to flood hazard information and maps in order to make informed decision-making related to flood mitigation, land use planning and prevent costly impacts of flood.

This project will purchase digitization equipment.

Project activities include: (1) provision of technical and financial support to representatives and decision-makers of targeted communes to help them develop and/or adapt existing plans, policies, trainings and tools to promote improved climate governance and inclusive decision-making; (2) conducting mapping exercises to identify specific climate- and gender-related needs and risks of each targeted communes.

This project aims to provide vital spatio-temporal maps of sea ice roughness, thickness, and slush conditions for Nunavik communities, crucial for safe and efficient travel in the face of changing climate conditions. By combining traditional knowledge with satellite and ground-based observations, including drone imagery and Ground Penetration Radar, the project will offer near real-time access to reliable satellite maps through collaboration with the Kativik Regional Administration, benefiting the safety and well-being of Nunavimmiuts.
