This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Mid-Island Métis Nation Association will achieve this by convening a committee of women with lived experience of financial hardship to identify strategies that support economic interdependence amongst Indigenous, racialized and newcomer communities, engaging stakeholders to inform the areas of greatest need and incorporate collective models, and creating a framework for an anti-poverty strategy.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and by supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power.

Key partners in the project, Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre, Society for Equity Inclusion and Advocacy, Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, and Nanaimo Foodshare Society will be instrumental throughout the project and will support implementing at least three framework initiatives to lift women and children out of poverty.

Pacific Immigrant Resources Society will achieve this by developing and implementing community-based appraoches to address intersectional barriers to equality for diverse women, engage women and/or girls with lived experience to influence pandemic recovery responses, convene and strengthen the feminist movement to collaboratively advance gender equality, build relationships between equality seeking organizations and other stakeholders to colloboarte across sectors to advance gender equality.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemtic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and support positive authority, vocies and decision-making to support women's equality.

The project will conduct a needs assessment, pilot a women's childcare worker peer-mentioring program, and enhance sector collaboration for accessible childcare.

Solid State Community Society will achieve this by developing a Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) -informed intersectional toolkit to influence policy, practice and procedures in hiring and upward mobility of racialized women within the City of Surrey, and by delivering workshops, seminars and trainings to diverse community groups and institutions to further share and implement policy guidelines to remove barriers to BIPOC women’s leadership opportunities.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and by supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality.

Key partners in the project, the City of Surrey, DiverseCity, Simon Fraser University, and Surrey Anti-Gang Family Empowerment (SAFE) will be instrumental in mobilizing knowledge resources and to implementing the toolkit to influence systemic change.

This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery to address the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Victoria Native Friendship Centre will achieve this by addressing systemic racism and misogyny within South Vancouver Island healthcare by developing an Indigenous Safety in Healthcare Advisory Committee, hiring a cultural safety facilitator to support Indigenous women and girls through the Women’s Health Empowerment Circles, and develop and deliver cultural safety training for Indigenous and non-Indigenous healthcare workers.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes, supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, and increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change.

The project will result in 12 Cultural Safety Training sessions delivered to healthcare workers and 15 Women’s Health Empowerment Circles for Indigenous women and girls.

This 53-month project will co-design, implement and evaluate a community-based wraparound model of care for child and youth survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. NB Champions for Child Rights Inc. will lead this project with support from a Youth Council and a committee of experts in child rights, GBV, trauma-informed practice, and cultural safety. A needs assessment and community map of services will also be completed to increase the understanding of the diverse needs and gaps in supports for child and youth survivors of GBV in the Fredericton region.

At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice that will ensure that community-based organizations in the Fredericton region have the evidence, training, partners, and resources needed to deliver appropriate supports for child and youth survivors of GBV in a manner that is consistent with their best interests.

This 29-month scale-up project will further develop and implement the recommendations of West Central Women’s Resource Centre’s report Connecting the Circle: A Gender-Based Strategy to End Homelessness, addressing systems gaps at the intersection of gender-based violence and housing insecurity, in order to address the root causes of gender-based violence. West Central Women’s Resource Centre will achieve this through policy development and change within a community of practice; increasing sector knowledge through curriculum development and training; building a coordinated service delivery model; and engaging with stakeholders to advocate for sustainable system wide change.

This 29-month project month project will develop and implement an Attitude Development for Attaining Gender Equality curriculum for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes and English Language Learners (ELL) to address the root causes of gender-based violence. The Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services Society will achieve this by engaging survivors of family violence, developing a curriculum for educational workshops on gender equity and family violence, delivering workshops to LINC and ELL classes, evaluating the project impacts, and disseminating project findings.

At the end of the project, the organization will have unraveled and developed strategies to address persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes, increased networks, and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, encouraged more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and supported positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality.

This project will educate men and boys on understanding their own attitudes and the impact on their actions and behaviours to reduce and prevent family violence.

This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic change. Barren Lands First Nation will achieve this by assembling and implementing the Barren Lands Women’s Council who will work at addressing identified needs and gaps in the community; reviewing and adapting employment policy, hiring processes and election procedures; and by developing strategies for the strengthening of the Barren Lands First Nation women’s movement.

This project will bring together women to form a Women’s Council and will work with women, Elders and men from Barren Lands First Nation to address and change policies and procedures within their community to advance women's recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.

Northwest Metis Council will achieve this by establishing a coordination mechanism for Métis women experiencing Gender-Based Violence in four Northwestern Manitoban communities; developing a referral network and resources; developing and providing Métis-specific resources and trainings to service providers; and conducting a project evaluation. The project will develop a curriculum guide for the training programs and implement a series of community discussions to engage and empower Métis Citizens concerning Gender-Based Violence in their communities. Northwest Metis Council will also produce a referral book of services as well as Métis-specific resources on GBV for dissemination, and will speak to the project and Métis experiences of Gender-Based Violence at an academic conference.

Northwest Metis Council Inc. will work to together with their partners, the Manitoba Metis Federation’s Health and Wellness Department, the Manitoba Metis Federation’s Community Liaison Department, and Michif Child and Family Services, to implement this project. A Métis Elder and Métis women, including GBV survivors, will also be included in the Project Advisory Group.
