The proposed project aims to develop and demonstrate a machine learning based Recommender System using reinforcement learning and 2 different digital twin models, ultimately, to help Anaergia Plant Operators make more informed decisions, with an objective to optimize (increase or decrease) biogas production, total plant capacity, downtime, stability of biogas production, energy use, natural gas use, valorization of non-organic waste, quality of fertilizer output, based on Plant objectives and operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts.

The project involves the elimination of sediment and oil being returned into the recycled water for the soil washing process. Currently, it is difficult to treat and recycle water from a soil wash plant and hydro excavation water is highly variable.

Vocalmeet is in the final stage of releasing its SaaS - based live streaming application called "MemberStreaming" for member-based organizations across North America. While most of the application's development process has been completed, the technology deployment in a hosting environment remains open and will be undertaken within the next few months.

The LifeSciences BC Investor Readiness Program for SMEs 2021-2023 is a continuation of this program that was initially launched in 2020. This program brings together annual cohorts of at least 10 early-stage BC SMEs in the life sciences sector with an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR). EIRs are carefully selected and matched to each SME based on specific experience and knowledge relevant to that particular SME. The program supports the participating SMEs to become “investor ready” by providing them with new skills to successfully attract investment funds. Each cohort-year of the program will culminate in an investor pitch session where the participants will use their new skills to present to a group of pre-qualified investors.

This Project considers the intricate challenges that are associated with transportation and logistics support to remote and northern areas of Canada. The objective of the Project is to design and develop autonomous capabilities for the navigation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) range where operator intervention may not be feasible. The Project will consist of the development of AI-based algorithms for autonomous BVLOS flight routes, algorithm development for simultaneous localization and mapping, the design of vision-based control methods for landings, intelligent aerial manipulation control techniques for package delivery and pickups; collecting drone flight and delivery-pickup data from northern Manitoba communities and verifying the AI-based methods through simulations and experiments.

In this project a new generation of plasma torches of 2 MW and more used in industrial high temperature (~1500 oC) processes will be developed. These torches could replace fossil fuel burners currently used and provide significant environmental benefits to heavy industries like the steel industry, for example.

Research and support project to identify growth improvements at Acadium

The project aims to make available to Canadian SMEs, a specialized laboratory with dedicated spaces equipped with light telecommunications technologies on a half kilometer of underground galleries, already installed, in order to continue to implement activities dedicated to the development, marketing and outreach of ITUC products and solutions.
