This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WomanACT) will achieve this by engaging survivors in project planning and implementation, advancing policies to promote survivors right to remain in their own homes, addressing discriminatory policies, and shifting the gender norms and attitudes so they will support women to safely stay in their own home.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality.

The organization regularly works with partners to advance promising practices and address systemic issues. The project will partner with a range of networks, stakeholders, and community organizations (including anti-violence against women organizations). Partnerships with other levels of government will be a key priority during the project; the organization will explore alignment with municipal and provincial priorities that could support the Safe at Home model.

Women Transforming Cities will achieve this by empowering women’s organizations to influence municipal policies using an intersectional feminist lens, and engaging partners working with underrepresented communities through City Action workshops and online resources to increase representation of diverse women’s voices in municipal political activities.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices in municipal government, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and by supporting positive distribution of authority, voices and decision-making power in municipal government to support women’s equality.

The project will build upon a network of women’s organizations to deliver workshops that address civic participation, advocacy, and policy change for women in underrepresented communities.

This 30-month project will adapt, implement, and expand a Rural Women Project model previously developed by Renfrew County Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Support Centre to more communities in Renfrew County and share it provincially to address the root causes of gender-based violence. Renfrew County Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Support Centre will achieve this by (1) adapting and testing the “Survivor Awareness Program” (SAP) using the survivor advocacy journal as a core resource; (2) invigorating and enhancing the Community of practice-led survivor events; and (3) initiating and fostering relationships with allies to increase networks and collaboration through the “We Stand with Survivors” banner initiative during sexual assault awareness month.

At the end of the project, the organization will have (1) disrupted harmful gender norms, victim-blaming, and support survivor voices to ensure those with lived experiences are part of their own solutions; (2) increased pandemic recovery collaboration alongside businesses in Renfrew County, and disrupted stigma and silence about sexual violence; (3) increased networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change addressing rural sexual violence nationally.

This project will engage community businesses and practitioners, and women with lived experience from the Renfrew County communities in each component of the project.

This 30-month project will develop and implement a five-year community justice action plan that will be built into the ongoing activities and future strategies of participating Waterloo Region organizations to address the root causes of gender-based violence. Young Women's Christian Association of Kitchener-Waterloo will achieve this by conducting GBV prevention and justice response baseline research, including interviewing the target demographic (racialized women, low-income women experiencing homelessness or housing precarity); hosting solutions labs on issues identified in the research and developing action plans; hosting listening sessions as a participant driven way for those involved to be heard, develop understanding, and find a way to move forward; building a coalition; developing a community justice action plan; mobilizing the community around the plan; and building organization and community capacity to encourage sustainability of the plan.
At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice that will consist of a community justice action plan that documents and addresses the gendered violence prevention and justice response needs of this demographic by engaging those with lived experience and those in positions of leadership to change how justice is experienced in Waterloo Region.
This project will form a coalition, under the leadership of Young Women's Christian Association of Kitchener-Waterloo, YWCA Cambridge, and Community Justice Initiatives, that will develop a five-year community justice action plan and work with the community to implement change and help organizations build this change into their ongoing activities and future strategies to ensure sustainability.

Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association will achieve this by conducting participatory and literature review research to identify and deconstruct attitudes, beliefs and practices that influence gender-based violence against immigrant women; fostering collaborative partnerships between key ethnocultural/religious community groups and service providers to leverage resources and address support services gaps in the Calgary area; and developing and implementing evidence-based strategies to address harmful gender norms, attitudes, and practices.
At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality.

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Cold Lake First Nations will achieve this by forming an Indigenous Women’s Coalition, identifying opportunities to make changes, engaging partners to facilitate change, and taking collective action to close gender inequitable gaps in the Cold Lake First Nations community.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality.

This project will bring together women and all people who experience inequity based on gender identity to act as leaders in the development of a solution focused response to ending gender-based violence and gender-based dominance to improve women’s and girl’s economic security and prosperity.

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) will achieve this by assessing key chokepoints limiting the full participation of women in the profession, test strategies to address biggest hindrances for underrepresented groups, develop a tested resource bank for engaging, retaining, and meaningfully including women in the workforce.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by seeking to alter, reorient or connect the elements of a system in order to accelerate systemic change.

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Women’s Centre of Calgary will achieve this by convening caucuses of diverse women, including Black, Indigenous, racialized, and migrant women, to collectively identify the key gender equality issues they face as a result of the pandemic, such as barriers to their economic security and leadership; performing evidence-based and anecdotal reviews of the disproportionate impacts of the pandemic and intersectional gender gaps within existing recovery plans; developing an inclusivity toolkit and an inclusive feminist recovery agenda that is community-informed and incorporates the input of diverse women with lived experiences; and convening ongoing meetings and consultations with key stakeholders to mobilize support across sectors for the agenda’s systemic change solutions.
At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality.
Through this project, marginalized women’s groups, particularly BIPOC women and women involved in migrant and care work, will be given opportunities to lead the development of a toolkit and recovery plan that contains key recommendations for removing systemic barriers and advancing equality. Women’s Centre of Calgary will leverage existing relationships with their Social Policy Collaborative partners and will build networks with other equity-seeking groups and officials to advance the recommendations towards a recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. The project’s impact will be documented through an evaluation.
