The overarching objective of the Union Training and Innovation Program aims to strengthen apprenticeship training systems to better support a skilled, inclusive, certified and productive trades workforce by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of training provided. .The streams have the following specific objectives: .Stream 1 (Equipment) will increase investment in training equipment and materials for higher quality training, leading to a more skilled and productive trade workforce. .Stream 2 (Innovation in Apprenticeship) will support innovation and enhanced partnerships to address long-standing and complex challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes. .Stream 3 (Women in Construction Fund [WCF]) will support projects that expand or replicate successful models to encourage more women to participate and succeed in apprenticeship and the skilled trades. Stream 4 (Trades Exploration and Experience Program) will support projects that encourage Canadians to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and skilled trades careers. This stream is limited to participants who are not registered apprentices..

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;.develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action..

This contribution enables ACRE to pursue the acquisition of the Hundred Acre Wood property for enhanced connectivity of Gatineau Park to areas of core habitat outside of the Park.

This contribution supports a collaborative research project at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to better understand mechanisms of genetic resistance to Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) infection in white-tailed deer and caribou.

This contribution will support research to better understand the effect of surface fires and prescribed fires on the regeneration of white and red pine forests and the influence of fire on natural pine regeneration and plant community biodiversity in particular at La Mauricie National Park.
