Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Smart textiles for health and well-being
986223
Physical stimulus is recognized in being able to retain the overall strength and independence of seniors. Its benefit on the nervous system and blood circulation is fundamentally important in helping seniors to battle ageing in a daily basis and prolong their healthy and independent life. This project is to develop smart textile technology that will integrate actuators and sensors into textile wearable products to provide daily and on-demand physical stimulus to the aged wearers at home. It aims to create an innovative living environment for seniors and help them to safely live at home

Early detection of cognitive decline using epigenetic biomarkers in peripheral blood

Aging is the predominant risk factor for developing Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementias. Recently, DNA methylation has been used to estimate the brain age and the brain age acceleration (defined as the difference between its biological and chronological ages) has been linked to increased risk of AD and other dementias.

Advanced polymer electrolytes for printed wearable sweat wristband for healthcare
990730
This project is part of the development of printed wearable sweat wristband sensing system for health monitoring and early-stage disease diagnosis. The sweat wristbands will need low power consumption components to ensure truly wearable and portable, which is critical to such applications. The current driving and sensing components require high operating voltage making it impossible to run with current available batteries. One of the solutions to reduce the operation voltage of the sensing and circuit components is to leverage the electrolyte-gated organic field-effect transistors (EGFETs) which may operate at
