Grants and Contributions

The objectives of the Labour Funding Program are to:
• promote respect for fundamental labour rights and international obligations through capacity building of labour administrations and exchange of good practice in the areas of labour relations and working conditions;
• develop and transfer knowledge on effective approaches to address the labour dimensions of globalization in Canada and internationally;
• strengthen relationships that foster collaboration, partnership, alliances and networks to address labour issues;
• support the capacity of governments, labour and management, and employers and employees to identify and address labour issues; and,
• promote knowledge sharing through the development, exchange and application of knowledge, tools and resources that address labour issues and/or sustain or enhance labour practices and labour relations.

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;
develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action.

Empowering youth in the provinces of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, South Africa, for active leadership and civic engagement in their schools and communities through the implementation of 5 my.voice leadership and civic engagement trainings with 100 youth leaders, the mentoring of 10 youth-led school and community initiatives and the implementation of a ½ day expo-event to connect the involved youth to local decision-makers.

Building agricultural capacity to reduce food insecurity through household insect farming in southeast Madagascar

Improving girls' and women's health and promoting gender equality in rural areas of the Analamanga region of Madagascar by installing community midwives to provide quality, local sexual and reproductive health services and by mobilizing community stakeholders in the implementation of a campaign to promote sexual and reproductive health rights, including the fight against gender-based violence.

Promoting the empowerment and job transition of women in the Rivière Noire district of Mauritius who have recently lost their jobs because of the health and economic crisis by improving their linguistic and computer skills, providing training in artisanal techniques, supporting the structuring of their activities and creating an online sales platform.
