About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Enhancing women's access to justice through philanthropic and social enterprise development

This 48-month project will diversify Rise’s funding and create a sustainable fund development plan. This objective will be achieved by hiring an experienced fund development expert who will (1) develop and implement an annual fundraising plan; (2) cultivate donors and spearhead a fundraising plan; (2) cultivate donors and spearhead fund-raising campaigns; (3) build organizational capacity to write grants; and (4) develop a social enterprise. These activities will help to provide a stable revenue stream for Rise and extend its services. By supporting Rise in its fund development goals, legal staff will be able to focus on improving legal services to women throughout B.C.
The additional funding will be used to address additional capacity building activities and improving capacity to service increased traffic to virtual services with the rise of family violence since the onset of COVID-19.
Supplemental funds will be used to further develop RISE’s capacity through an HR assessment, compensation review, and governance policy manual assessment

P008559001: January 2020 – In 2020, there are an estimated 4.1 million Iraqis in need of humanitarian assistance, of which 1.77 million are in acute need. Out of the 6 million displaced people during the conflict against Daesh, more than 1.4 million people remain internally displaced. Those directly affected by the conflict against Daesh, particularly those who were displaced and whose lives and livelihoods were uprooted and destroyed, continue to require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs.
With GAC’s support, Oxfam-Québec is providing water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and protection assistance to vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees and host communities in Iraq. Project activities include: (1) rehabilitating water supply systems and water treatment plants; (2) providing sanitation facilities and solid and medical waste management systems in health centres; (3) delivering hygiene promotion activities; (4) providing emergency cash-for-protection grants or multi-purpose cash assistance to vulnerable women-headed households; (5) providing psychosocial support activities; and (6) providing training to community-based structures, including women and youth groups, on protection monitoring, case identification, and referrals.

The project aims to contribute to the guarantee of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for migrants and refugees from Venezuela and host communities in Colombia and Ecuador, with a gender sensitive approach. Project activities include: (1) improving knowledge and agency of women and girls, migrants and refugees to exercise their SRHR; (2) empowering national/local authorities and civil society organizations in the promotion of comprehensive gender responsive SRHR services; (3) strengthening coordination mechanisms for comprehensive gender responsive SRHR rights and response to women and girls and migrants from Venezuela and host communities; and (4) increasing capacity and assistance on gender-based violence prevention and gender sensitive responses from national/local authorities and services providers.

Developing Inclusive Waste Management Economies in Asia

The project aims to improve the economic prosperity of people working in waste management in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, particularly women and marginalized groups. The project also seeks to prevent plastic waste from entering the oceans. Project activities include: (1) supporting the growth of innovative businesses in the waste management sector; (2) building the capacity of waste pickers and women’s organizations involved in waste management; and (3) strengthening municipal government waste management policies and plans. The project works to support the entire waste management economy, such as informal waste pickers, businesses, community organizations, and local governments.
