This 27-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes. To achieve this, the Centre femmes de La Mitis intends to support its regional county municipality (RCM) in implementing concrete measures, such as adopting inclusive codes of conduct, to reform practices and promote women's participation in political life. Using tools developed by the Table de Concertation des Groupes de Femmes du Bas-Saint-Laurent, the organization will work with elected municipal officials and their teams to bring about changes that will help women access spaces for dialogue and deliberation. Municipalities will be supported in the development of initiatives to encourage women in the community to get involved in politics and to help them pursue careers within decision-making bodies. Women who have been elected to council or who are interested in getting involved in municipal politics will be equipped with tools to help their voices be heard. Networking activities and recognizing influential women will draw attention to women's civic leadership in the Lower St. Lawrence region.

By the end of the project, the organization aims to have helped remove systemic barriers by promoting inclusive policies and practices; by enhancing networks and collaboration to expedite systemic change; by supporting a positive distribution of power, the right to speak, and decision-making authority; and by addressing harmful norms and attitudes that persist on gender in support of women's equality.

This 25-month project will foster a feminist response and recovery in the context of the current impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through systemic change. To achieve this, the Alliance des femmes de la francophonie canadienne (AFFC) will mobilize its members to put in place a national strategy and an action plan that will support the recognition of women’s and girls’ right to be respected. The AFFC and its partners will launch a national social media awareness campaign to counter gender-based violence in Francophone and Acadian communities. A large part of this campaign will be driven by ambassadors who will testify to the realities and increased needs of Canadian women living in official language minority communities. The AFFC will develop tools and resources for its network partners who help vulnerable women, particularly women living in remote areas, and will share with them good practices and initiatives that can be adapted to their contexts. Women and girls who are survivors of violence will share their experiences through consultations, thus helping to make a positive difference for themselves and their peers. A survey will then be conducted to evaluate the activities implemented, and the results will be shared online with the partners.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to the removal of systemic barriers by promoting a more efficient and equitable sharing of resources, by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and by changing persistent prejudicial gender norms and attitudes to support equality for women.

This 27-month project will develop, implement, and test harm reduction practices within the child protection system, health systems, housing systems and schools of social work to effectively address the root causes of gender-based violence. The RainCity Housing and Support Society will achieve this by mapping existing harm reduction service organizations, developing peer-led family advocacy groups to inform policy and practice around child protection; creating a service provider network and practice reference group interested to advance harm reduction policy and practice around child protection; engaging Indigenous Elders and Host Nations to inform of cultural safety within a harm reduction practice and advocacy while integrating project learnings into a social policy recommendation document to broaden system change within the child protection system and schools of social work in Canada.

At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice that helped dismantle barriers that women face when accessing supports through the child welfare system and services; built capacity for peer support and advocacy; and created a network of service providers working towards these goals.
