Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Deployment Strategies: Technology-Based Balance and Fall Risk Assessments in Community-Dwelling Older Adults
1041223
This project explores operational integration for a novel balance and mobility assessment technology aimed at fall prevention and aging in place. Using pressure-sensitive tiles and computer vision with predictive algorithms, the system generates objective, interpretable mobility metrics in community settings. It addresses limitations of current assessments, which are often reactive, subjective, or restricted to specialized labs. The research evaluates these tools and potential implementation pathways such as physiotherapy clinics, senior centers, and long-term care facilities. Grounded in translational research, the project bridges lab-based innovation with real-world application, emphasizing scalable, privacy-conscious solutions that integrate into existing
care workflows. The goal is to leverage machine learning-enabled technology to improve awareness, early detection, and management of functional decline, support caregivers and clinicians, and empower older adults to monitor their mobility and wellness. Findings will inform strategies for broader adoption of digital health tools and commercialization, contributing to sustainable, community-based aging solutions that enhance independence and quality of life.

Next Generation Quantum Algorithms for Differential Equations
1041320
The aim of the project is to develop new approaches to differential equations with an aim of providing clear exponential advantages for problems in plasma physics, geo physics, optimization, financial mathematics and chemistry. The project will extend current approaches to handle stochastic differential equations and build quantum algorithms for inverse problems where a partial solution is known at different times in the dynamics. These will open up applications in geophysics and financial mathematics that at present are impossible on quantum computers. The team will develop a new mathematical formalism that proves bounds on information propagation speed to simplify both quantum and classical differential equation algorithms, also leading to new methods of simulating relativistic dynamics on quantum computers. Finally, the project will examine applications of these ideas to the aforementioned domain sciences and aim to show clear evidence for an end-to-end quantum advantage that could revolutionize the Canadian economy and scientific community.

Defence Market Analysis and Strategic Framework Developement
1041351
The project aims to help TACTIQL Inc. expand into international defence markets, focusing on NATO Europe and South Korea. It will involve mapping defence ecosystems, analyzing customer segments, and understanding procurement environments to identify opportunities aligned with Canada’s defence, AI, and digital technology priorities. The outcome will be a structured market engagement strategy, identification of scalable international channels, and a roadmap for aligning with allied defence procurement processes—ultimately strengthening Canada’s role in global security and innovation sectors.

Ahmahtoo'siim-ahkoohmsi (Smudge Vow) Project Expansion
23326
The project provides a doorway to lifetime healing for individuals who experience social and cultural challenges resulting from intergenerational trauma and involvement in the criminal justice system. Through knowledge building, behaviour change and community integration, project participants will successfully reintegrate back into Calgary and surrounding or Nation communities. Participants will return to their communities with a better connection to Elders, ceremonies and culture, resulting in health and wellness.
