This 28-month project will develop and implement a systemic change strategy and tools to address barriers Muslim women face to target the root causes of gender-based violence. Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) will achieve this by hiring a project team, establishing an Advisory Committee, as well as developing a guide to conduct systemic reviews of policies and practices from an intersectional Muslim women’s lens, and policies and practices of a sample of relevant organizations with a view to helping them remove barriers and fill gaps in the GBV sector to meet the needs of Canadian Muslim women and girls.

The project will pilot a program to coordinate services and supports for Muslim women building on the model for CCMW's Legal Services Coordination Pilot Program (LSCPP). Evaluation will be built into the pilot so that systemic issues identified throughout the project may be addressed effectively. The pilot will include multilingual capability, toll-free telephone access and simple online instructions. CCMW will build on the current LSCPP roster of legal and other service providers to include organizations focused on GBV. The project will build and expand CCMW’s roster of family law practitioners to include GBV support and service providers.

At the end of the project, the organization will have identified and reviewed policies and practices of service providers that cater to a diverse clientele, including Muslim women, law enforcement agencies, legal clinics and religious organizations.

This 23-month project will convene the gender equality movement in Canada and lay the groundwork for their collective and collaborative work to advance gender equality from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

This 28-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes.

This 28-month project will develop a research map that will identify gender-based violence against girls in urban and rural BC and design an anti-violence response strategy with policy recommendations to address the root causes of gender-based violence. Justice for Girls will achieve this by undertaking systemic advocacy initiatives, leading awareness campaigns, enhancing community partnerships, and implementing a leadership program for girls.

At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice that addresses discriminatory legislation and policies that prevent girls from fully participating in the social, political, and economic spheres; community-based approaches to address intersectional barriers to equality for diverse girls; and policies to enhance reconciliation based approaches for Indigenous girls’ safety, economic security and leadership opportunities.

This 28-month project will develop and implement a curriculum to identify the gaps and security needs of women and women identified Trans, Non-Binary, and Two-Spirit (TN2S) in housing services to address the root causes of gender-based violence. Peers Victoria Resource Society, will achieve this by using a trauma-based approach to gender and sexualized violence in housing services by facilitating consultations, developing a curriculum to address service gaps and unmet safety and security needs of women in housing services, and delivering this curriculum to residents, peer support workers and housing operators.

At the end of the project, the organization will have developed promising practices that have increased networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, addressed persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes, advanced inclusive policies, and practices, and supported positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power.

This 22-month project will serve as a continuation of the previous WAGE-funded project entitled ‘The Courage to Act: National Framework to Address and Prevent Gender Based Violence on Post-Secondary Campuses,’ and will continue to address and prevent gender-based violence at post-secondary institutions across Canada.

This 28-month project will develop and implement an Intrafamilial Homicides (IH) risk assessment tool to better equip the Montreal police department (SPVM) in their efforts to address the deeper causes of gender-based violence in Montréal.
