This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. PolicyWise for Children & Families will achieve this by gathering and reviewing evidence to inform rapid program and policy solutions to correct the disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on women in Alberta’s labour force, in particular those experienced by newcomers, visible minorities, young women, and mothers. A provincial strategy will be developed through a large-scale engagement and a robust implementation plan with tools to support the economic recovery of women and gender equality in the labour force.
At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices; and increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change.
This project will bring together diverse partnerships that will work on understanding and increasing available statistical evidence, stories, and lived experience to support the implementation of evidence-informed programs, policies and tools to remove barriers and promote advancement of women for an ongoing recovery in the labour force.

This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Pro-Choice Society of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta will achieve this through a 4-point plan that builds networks and collaborations of existing knowledge holders, service providers, and community outreach programs while supporting the inclusion of patient voice and addressing inequitable resource access. Additionally, it will empower women and non-binary people to make decisions about their own reproductive health without fear of shame, stigma and improve their economic security and prosperity by giving more control over the choice to have children and reducing the risks and harms that accompany unplanned pregnancies.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices; encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources; increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change; supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power; and addressing persistent and harmful gender norms and attitudes to support gender equality.

Through written material and knowledge sharing, various medical and community partners will come together to address known and unknown service gaps with local and rural organizations and to increase awareness and advocacy on reproductive services and information for marginalized and vulnerable populations available in southern Alberta.

This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Sanare Centre (formally known as Southeastern Alberta Sexual Assault Response Committee) will achieve this by using a norm-based prevention program developed specifically for young men living in rural/small urban centers (in schools and sports team), that are at high-risk of perpetuating harmful masculinities, gender norms, behaviors and attitudes. An environmental scan, need assessment, relationship building , marketing campaign and a mentoring/training program will be completed and community engagement strategy to be developed to build capacity for the boys to become leaders among their peer groups by working with a local positive masculinity men’s group to train men as community champions and to use gender-transformative practices.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by addressing persistent and harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality.

The outcomes of the program will be measured through pre/post surveys to gauge participant opinions on statements related to gender equity and gender-based violence. Furthermore, a developmental evaluation will be implemented from the onset of the program to track stakeholder opinions as well as any necessary program modifications due to COVID-19/unpredictable circumstances.

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta will achieve this by developing and implementing community-based approaches to address intersectional barriers to equality for women who are criminalized and those who are considered at risk. More specifically, the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta will raise awareness and educate the public on systemic discrimination within our criminal and social systems and advocate for alternatives to incarceration, access to justice and Gladue Rights. They will also be providing their expertise to the legal community to develop plans that avoid and prevent incarceration and will move the needle on the TRC and MMIWG's calls to action.
At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by addressing persistent and harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality.
Working with diverse partners such as CEASE and John Humphrey’s Centre, mentors will be trained in intersectional feminist, trauma informed advocacy.
