Equipment Acquisition: The project aims to ensure the quality and sustainability of snowmobile trails maintained by the client and used by tourists.

Operating costs: The project aims to provide support services to innovative start-ups in the Greater Montreal area.

This project aims to ensure access to high-quality family planning (FP) and comprehensive abortion care (CAC) services for the poorest and most underserved women and girls in 11 of Ghana’s 16 regions. This project focuses on reaching some of the poorest and most underserved women and girls in the country, within the Central, Northern, North East and Savannah regions. This project also contributes to strengthens their decision-making power on issues that affect their health.

Project activities include: (1) supporting local advocacy efforts that call to strengthen policies and guidelines related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services in Ghana, including the adoption of SRHR education in schools and the national rollout of FP services as part of the National Health Insurance Scheme benefit package; (2) strengthening the capacity of the Government of Ghana to provide strong policy leadership and meet the increasing demand for SRHR services via its public health care system; and (3) supporting a national youth-focused campaign on Heath and FP.

This project expects to directly benefit 200,000 women and girls by providing them access to high quality, rights-based and client-centred FP and CAC services. Other direct beneficiaries include: (1) 208 public sector providers, including eight master trainers/supervisors; (2) eight public sector health promoters and 120 community-based volunteers; (3) 100 private sector service providers who are members of the BlueStar Network social franchise; (4) 200 community pharmacists; and (5) 3,600 police officers/recruits who expect to receive training on safeguarding sexual and reproductive health and rights.

January 2021 - In 2021, approximately 235 million people across the world will be in need of humanitarian assistance and protection in part due to ongoing conflicts, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks. In response to the unprecedented level of humanitarian needs, GAC’s humanitarian assistance is providing predictable, multi-year, multi-country support to longstanding partners in protracted humanitarian contexts globally.

With GAC’s support, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is providing assistance to address the urgent needs of up to 450,000 beneficiaries per year in each country of operation. This project focuses on providing access to primary and secondary healthcare, including the provision of sexual and reproductive health services in countries where we are operating, specifically in countries affected by conflict, situations of violence and other emergencies.

Project activities include: (1) providing at least 2,000,000 outpatient consultations to populations in the area of response; (2) setting up, operating and providing at lest 335,000 patient treatments in MSF managed centres in areas of a confirmed disease outbreak; (3) providing targeted vaccination campaigns and disease case management in areas of response; (4) providing malnutrition MUAC screening and therapeutic feeding care to children under the age of five; and (5) distributing non-food item kits including bed nets, and sanitation supplies (targeting pregnant and lactating women, and children under the age of five).

March 2021 – A complex combination of vulnerability to armed conflict, inter-communal tension, protracted displacement, and food insecurity characterizes the humanitarian situation in Myanmar. An estimated one million crisis-affected people require humanitarian assistance this year, including more than 336,000 displaced people across the country. Humanitarian organizations operate in an increasingly complex environment, including as a result of the recent military coup.

With GAC’s support, Canadian Lutheran World Relief and its local partner, Lutheran World Federation Myanmar, improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities, non-food items and shelter for internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in central Rakhine State, Myanmar. This project also addresses protection and social cohesion issues. Project activities include: (1) installing community water filters; (2) distributing WASH and dignity kits; (3) re-constructing longhouses in a safer, more dignified and gender-responsive manner; (4) providing training on leadership and rights-based empowerment to women, adolescent girls and girls; and (5) conducting awareness-raising sessions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence.

March 2021 – Following the outbreak of violence in Northern Rakhine State in August 2017, more than 700,000 Rohingya people crossed from Myanmar into Bangladesh over a period of several months. Currently, an estimated 855,000 Rohingya refugees live in 34 highly congested settlements in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The speed and scale of the influx resulted in significant humanitarian needs.

With GAC’s support, Development and Peace and its local partner, Caritas Bangladesh, provide safe shelters and secure settlements to Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, using a community-based approach. Project activities include: (1) providing training on shelter construction, maintenance and upgrade to refugee households; (2) distributing construction materials and providing technical assistance; (3) facilitating community groups to develop site improvement action plans; and (4) undertaking site improvement works.

The objectives of the Program are: • promoting volunteerism among seniors; • engaging seniors in the community through mentoring of others; • expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse; • supporting social participation and inclusion of seniors; and • providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors.

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;.develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action..
