The objectives of this funding opportunity are to fund new research that will improve health and achieve more equitable outcomes in nutrition, metabolic health and chronic high burden diseases, as well as STBBI, across the life course of diverse groups of people in Canada by:

1. Developing precision medicine approaches to characterize the variability that underlies mechanisms of disease, to prevent, detect and intervene effectively in terms of disease susceptibility, progression, resilience and reversibility, and treatment
2. Increasing our understanding of interactions between structural, social, environmental, and biological determinants of health in Indigenous communities that underlie heterogeneity in health and disease
3. Increasing our understanding of interactions between structural, social, environmental, and biological determinants of health with particular emphasis on a diversity of populations who have historically experienced inequitable outcomes in Canada and at-risk groups that underlie heterogeneity in health and disease

Note that applicants will not be required to meet all the objectives in their respective application, but all objectives will be met through the funding opportunity.

The specific objectives of the CCNA Research Teams FO are to equitably and inclusively:

• Support research in age-related neurogenerative diseases related to the themes of primary prevention, secondary prevention and treatment, and quality of life;
• Support the continuous improvement and optimal use of CCNA research platforms and central research support for research in neurodegeneration in aging;
• Catalyze and build training and mentoring capacity to foster career development of the next generation of researchers in the field, inclusive of the diversity of people in Canada, and Australia, as applicable, by leveraging training and other opportunities offered by the CCNA Operations Centre;
• Enhance capacity for knowledge mobilization practices throughout the research process, in both official languages, to increase the dissemination and uptake of neurodegenerative disease research results to relevant parties and partners in research;
• Facilitate interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, interprovincial, and international (if applicable) collaborations, and create linkages within and across teams, themes, and the CCNA Operations Centre, and between a diversity of researchers and knowledge users in age-related neurodegenerative diseases; and
• Advance research on neurodegenerative diseases and improve more equitable health outcomes for diverse groups of people in Canada, and Australia, as applicable.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to support:

• planning activities, partnership development and to increase understanding of the health research landscape that will contribute to the advancement of research consistent with the mandate of CIHR; and
• dissemination events and activities that focus on the communication of health research evidence to the appropriate researcher or knowledge-user audiences, tailoring the message and medium as appropriate.
