Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Pea starch profiling towards increasing the utilization of pulse-derived starch and derivatives in industrial applications
963969
Valorizing pulse co-product streams is an important aspect of profitability and sustainability for the pulse protein production industry, especially in cases where the pulse starch co-product is abundant, but has limited value. In the Project, different pea starch materials (native and modified) will be profiled and the most essential properties identified to enable optimal use of the material in industrial (non-food) applications. Ultimately, information collected from the Project will help refine a road map that will guide decision making by both producers and end-users for the increase use of pea starch materials in industrial applications.

Brain Trust for the Colombian Transition - Support to Territorial Peace Implementation
7425947 P009741001
This project aims to strengthen the implementation of Colombia's "Territorial-focused Development Plans" (known as PDETs in Spanish). The project does this by supporting the combined work of “Territorial Trust,” a sub-national network of peace implementation actors in PDET regions. And the Colombian Brain Trust, a network of experts who played a direct and significant role in the Colombian peace negotiations in Havana. Together, the Brain and Territorial Trusts provide analysis, policy advice, and recommendations to policy-makers on peace implementation, emphasizing PDET implementation.
Project activities include: (1) holding sessions with the Brain and Territorial Trusts that serve to identify, debate and analyze challenges and solutions; formulating policy recommendations, and defining engagement strategies aimed at catalyzing PDET implementation; (2) conducting workshops aimed at building knowledge on lessons learned from different conflict contexts; (3) preparing and distributing policy analyses on risks and opportunities for peace implementation in Colombia; and (4) conducting public outreach with broader audiences, including actors with different political views or technical interpretations of the Peace Agreement’s implementation.
