This 28-month project will strengthen the capacity of Capital Rainbow Refuge (CRR) to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by growing its organizational and managerial capacity to become a stronger legal entity with a democratic governance. CRR will develop a communication system to reach group leaders, newcomers, members/volunteers, and donors through strategic and financial planning, which includes diversifying funding sources, such as joint fundraising, fundraising models for their small groups, and direct mail to ensure long term sustainability. In addition to the creation of an outreach plan, it will solidify relationships with allies, widen their membership base, and help other agencies deliver better services. An environmental scan will allow CRR to better manage the volunteer base, helping in recruiting participants and refugees with lived intersectional experiences, which will in turn improve the trauma-informed workshops on pre and post arrival planning, with materials to circulate in both official languages.

They will develop materials in a Toolkit for overseas applications and inland hearing preparations that will raise the legal bar, sharing expertise in the legal realm and with coalition partners, resulting in fewer negative decisions, costly and stressful appeals and/or avoidable deportations. They will also develop technical systems with the goal of creating a virtual office to improve capacity, including software and licenses.

The supplemental funds will cover costs of the organization training its staff and volunteers on mental health and anti-racism/anti-oppression to better support clients.

In Phase II of the project, the organization will 1) design Qmunity Matching system, 2) build upon its strategic and financial planning, 3) conduct an environmental scan to better integrate and manage its volunteer base, and 4) improve trauma-informed workshops for CRR staff by developing materials to circulate in both official languages.

At the end of the project, the organization will have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sexual orientation, gender identity, expression and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) individuals; and established and strengthened partnerships and collaborations to support the LGBTQ2 movement.

The specific objective of this funding opportunity is:

Applications must ensure relevance to all of the following objectives:
• Establish central coordination and collaboration activities with existing clinical trials groups/networks to increase the availability of high-quality and real-time evidence and build capacity to support Canada’s rapid response to the global pandemic and health emergencies in order to better prevent, detect, treat and/or manage COVID-19;
• Establish a transparent, inclusive, multi-jurisdictional recruitment and membership process that describes benefits for and requirements and expectations of members;
• Collaborate across member networks to establish resource and data sharing policies, increase efficiencies in research and related processes (including, but not limited to ethics review; contracts; common protocols; developing applications for trial funding; consistent and valid patient-oriented outcomes), reduce duplication, and maximize research impact for COVID-19;
• Create data sharing agreements to ensure follow-up of patients through existing administrative data platforms within Canada;
• Adopt a nimble and adaptive strategy for engaging stakeholders in research prioritization and oversight while shifting studies as needed, based on new knowledge and changing COVID-19 landscape;
• Provide evidence to inform clinical and health system management and public health response, and/or decision-making and planning within and across jurisdictions in Canada and internationally; and
• Enhance local, national and/or international clinical trial collaborative efforts by aligning clinical trials networks with other COVID-19 research investments to prevent and/or mitigate the rapid spread of COVID-19 and related negative consequences.

The specific objectives of this directed grant are to support the:

• Collection of data from CLSA participants;
• Revision of the COVID-19 questionnaire as the pandemic evolves in the coming months;
• Generation of an electronic dataset that will be made available on the CLSA platform

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• To strengthen and create new, Canadian-led multidisciplinary collaborations among researchers working in stem cell biology, immunology and related fields to advance knowledge and technologies relevant to beta cell replacement in T1D.
• To accelerate potential stem cell-based therapies for T1D to the preclinical or clinical trial stage.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

-Developing, testing, validating, scaling up and integrating innovative ICT solutions for ageing well into re-designed service delivery models aimed at maintaining long term “functional ability” (See Call rationale and WHO Healthy ageing definition);
-Contributing to the creation/strengthening/connection of healthy ageing ecosystems.
