Improving the health care environment for intersex people through advocating for equal rights among intersex people and medical workers in Shandong Province.

Project activities include: (1) monitoring and reporting on human rights situations in the target countries; (2) supporting targeted countries to increase implementation of the recommendations of the international human rights mechanisms’ recommendations; and (3) supporting the active participation of civil society, including those representing women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex LGBTI populations, ethnic and religious minorities to defend their human rights.

This project works to promote the meaningful participation of lesbian, bisexual, gay, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people in peacebuilding efforts in Colombia.

P007054001: The project “Protective Learning and Nurturing Environments for Girls Education" (PLANE) aims to address the individual barriers that girls face in and out of school in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

This is done by ensuring that they have access to a safe space that offers them protection and safety, both physically and psychologically, as well as opportunities for learning. The project also aims to ensure young and adolescent girls who are out-of-school, at-risk of dropping-out, internally displaced and returned migrants, have access to continue their learning, uninterrupted, by providing flexible, relevant and alternative learning opportunities. An essential component to the method is that alternative learning leads to recognized certificates and enables re-integration into formal schooling or safe employment.

While young and adolescent girls are the focus of the project, the policies and many activities that benefit girls, may also support boys : such as well-trained teachers, inclusive and gender-responsive teaching methods that work for all students, a high-quality and relevant curriculum, and a focus on ensuring safe and secure learning environments for all children and adolescents.

Project activities include: (1) setting-up physically-safe learning spaces; (2) establishing and strengthening safe spaces that offer opportunities to support the social and emotional wellbeing of girls through the provision of trained staff, peer exchanges, links and referrals to protective services, and alternative learning; and (3) empowering girls to seek available support services and to know and realize their rights.

This project is expected to reach 180,600 persons under the age of 18 (126,420 girls and 54,180 boys), and 31,326 teachers, Ministry of Education officials, and education committee members.

P007054002: UNICEF's "Protective Learning and Nurturing Environments for Girls Education" (PLANE) project aims to increase the number of children and adolescents whom access safe learning opportunities and that are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves from risks. This to assist them entering pathways into a recognized and certified education, training and/or obtain employability skills. The project will focus on girls, adolescent & women, including those experiencing disabilities, internally displaced people (IDPs), migrants, refugees, LGBTI youth and young mothers.

The initiative will address a main push factor of irregular and forced migration – the lack of safe, equitable, flexible, quality and relevant educational and training opportunities. This is accomplished through the provision of safe and protective learning spaces, innovative and flexible quality educational opportunities and strengthened education systems, inclusive of strong regional support and exchange to improve the response to and prevention of violence, organized crime risks, school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) and gender-based violence (GBV) against children, adolescents and youth affected by violence, forced displacement and migration.

The project aims to promote lesbian, gay, transsexual and intersex (LGBTI) people's meaningful participation in peacebuilding efforts relating to the Colombian Peace Agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and other ongoing conflicts.

The additional funding will cover the implementation of Trans, Genderqueer, Non-binary, Two Spirit and Intersex inclusion in the services of sexual assault centres; and will help provide frontline staff with technological tools and support to deliver services in COVID-19 environment.

Organizational capacity will be enhanced through 1) creating a long-term Strategic Plan; 2) creating a current and implementable Advocacy Plan; 3) increase organizational financial health and stability through administrative support and in-house grant-writing capacity, informed by gender-based violence expertise; and, 4) increase structural stability to OCRCC’s anti-oppression, anti-racist and Gender-based Analysis work.5) implementing Trans, Genderqueer, Non-binary, Two Spirit and Intersex inclusion at sexual assault centres (resources for rebranding, logos, Centre training/meetings); 6) providing frontline staff with technological tools and support to deliver services in COVID-19 environment.

A mixed method community action study exploring 'life-cycle' healthcare transitions with Canadians experiencing intersex variations.

This project aims to support the Transitional Justice mechanisms established under the Colombian Peace Agreements by working with authorities to ensure that the design and implementation of the mechanisms are consistent with international standards and best practices, as well as to ensure the effective realisation of victims’ rights. Furthermore, the project supports civil society and victims’ organizations at the local levels in the Department of La Guajira and Cesar (departments heavily impacted by the conflict) to develop and implement local truth and reconciliation processes.
