The project is implemented by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.

The Announcement of opportunity “ Flights for the Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST)” aims at:
- Fostering the continuing development of a critical mass of researchers and HQP by providing a training ground for both the current and next generation of scientists and engineers;
- Supporting the development of science and technology relevant to the priorities of the CSA through the use of research platforms including stratospheric balloons, aircraft, sounding rockets, nanosatellites, cubesats, ground-based facilities and field sites.

It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.
More specifically, this project entitled "" The SatCODE Project - Building a Concurrent Design Model of Satellite Platforms "" has the objective (s): The objective of phase 1 of the satCODE project aims to setup in Canada the tools required to conduct Concurrent Design activities for spacecraft platform development projects.

The threat of orbital debris impacting an operating satellite or manned spacecraft is a significant cause for concern to today's space community and a national concern for Canada's space assets. With the years, Canada's and world's Space Situational Awareness (SSA) needs are exponentially growing.

Project activities include: (1) providing emergency shelter kits, non-food items and multi-purpose cash; (2) coordinating camp management for internally displaced people in UN bases; (3) deploying mobile teams to remote locations where affected populations lack water, sanitation and hygiene services; (4) providing emergency water, sanitation and hygiene; (5) supporting humanitarian organizations by establishing lightweight camps in deep field locations and heavy base camps and national NGO support centres and providing common transport services of cargo for humanitarian organizations; (6) data collection including mapping of vulnerable populations at points of entry and at the district and community level for enhanced targeting and delivery of assistance; and (7) protection and gender mainstreaming across activities with provision for extremely vulnerable individuals including unaccompanied migrant children and single females.

The project also targets more than 900 intermediaries, including actors and stakeholders at different scales, representatives of local village leadership, national women’s organizations, and business owners or leaders, policymakers and investors.

Project implementation is also supported by the following local partners: in Malawi: Development Aid from People to People; in Mozambique: Associação Para Promoção e Desenvolvimento da Mulher, Associação Juvenil para a Educação e Promoção de Juventude, and REDE Pastoral de Homoine; and in Zambia: the National Food and Nutrition Commission and the CSO SUN Alliance.

P001040003 : This project aims to lessen the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on poor and marginalized communities in targeted areas of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia. Aligned with national pandemic response plans, this project works to help reduce the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, by increasing the capacity of health care centers, health care workers, and communities to prevent and respond to the pandemic.

In addition, the project will contribute to Burkina Faso’s national response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic, and build capacity of health systems in northern Burkina Faso to better respond to the pandemic, and help prevent and manage future disease outbreaks.

Guided by the Pathways2Equity Framework, a network will be grown based on local and national interest and engagement. It will support dialogue-through-the arts engagement across the sites, and utilize social media to build the pan-Canadian initiative. A national knowledge sharing event will bring the project team, youth participants and other stakeholders together to review the Framework and generate ideas for its enhancement.

This research, conducted by multidisciplinary teams in partnership with relevant stakeholders, aims to apply the knowledge generated to improve healthcare systems and practices;
• Indigenous Health Research which is research that is conducted by, grounded in, or engaged with, First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities, societies or individuals and their wisdom, cultures, experiences or knowledge systems, as expressed in their dynamic forms, past and present; and/or
• Community-centered Action Research which involves community members in all stages of the research process—from the very beginning to define the research question.
