Support Indigenous groups as they develop, grow and maintain aquatic resource and oceans management departments that can provide fisheries, habitat, science, and oceans related services along a watershed.

This program is an integral component of the AFS and facilitates the voluntary retirement of commercial licences and the issuance of licences to eligible Aboriginal groups in a manner that does not add to the existing fishing effort, thereby providing Aboriginal groups with much-needed employment and income.

The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

The project aims to address the barriers that affect the sexual and reproductive health status and full enjoyment of rights of women and girls, with a focus on migrants in Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Honduras, and Peru. The project will seek to strengthen capacities among ministry of health employees, as well as health practitioners, by providing training on health information, surveillance and monitoring systems, gender-sensitive health services planning, and delivery of sexual and reproductive health services. In parallel, it will deliver workshops and comprehensive sexuality education to enhance knowledge among beneficiaries regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and increase their capacity to advocate for their rights. The project will organize awareness campaigns for community members and leaders on harmful gender-related norms and practices. Finally, it will provide technical support to governments and key stakeholders, including women elected officials, to develop, implement and enforce evidence-based SRHR public policies and strategies, in addition to providing training to civil society organizations, such as women’s rights organizations, to increase their capacity to advocate for the equal enjoyment of their rights.

Also, it is a vital tool to support the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestinian economy, especially following the war in Gaza. Canada’s proposed contribution of CAD 30M $ over 3 years to PFRD, specifically on Pillar III.

This project aims to improve the economic empowerment of 25,200 marginalized youth, including 15,120 adolescent girls and young women, in Rwanda, Somalia and Tanzania by providing skills development and Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through the Building leadership, Opportunities and options for marginalized women and girls (BLOOM) Africa initiative. BLOOM Africa is implemented through a multifaceted approach to address issues across individual, community, and systemic levels. At the individual level, the project supports empowering marginalized adolescent girls and young women to develop skills, advocate for their rights to skills development and access economic opportunities, overcome barriers and promote safe work environments. At the community level, the project promotes social and behavior change to support equitable community structures, challenge traditional gender norms, and address discriminatory practices and power imbalances. The project aims to address the disproportionate effects of gender inequality, climate change, and conflict on women and girls in Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and the West Bank. Led by KAIROS, a Canadian civil society development partner, and in collaboration with local human rights organizations, the project focuses on empowering women peacebuilders and local networks to lead interventions at the intersection of the triple nexus of climate change, conflict, and gender inequality. The initiative seeks to foster more sustainable, equitable, resilient, and peaceful societies in these regions by enhancing local capacity and strengthening the impact of gender-transformative approaches to these interconnected challenges.
