The Project Grant program is expected to:

• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors; and
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.

To recognize the excellence of health research being done in Canada, a prize of $25,000 will be awarded annually to the highest ranked early career investigator in the field of infection and immunity in the Spring and Fall 2020 Project Grant competitions. This prize is a supplemental grant to support research, and has to be used according to the CIHR Application Administration Guide.

The Breathing as One - Boehringer Ingelheim Canada COPD Catalyst Grant competition promotes innovative research related to the treatment/quality of life, mechanism of disease, and health care services for COPD. Catalyst grants are scalable research studies that can be pilot studies, feasibility studies, translational studies, and novel and innovative approaches.

The purpose of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) Education and Training Support (SETS) grant is to provide funding to help with the costs of developing and delivering an education and/or training activity (e.g. workshops, webinars, online education, conferences, etc.). The SETS grant contributes to the costs of activities such as workshops, webinars, online education, and conferences that advance understanding of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) and/or the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR Framework).

The objective of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) with this Travel Grant is to promote RCR and to provide researchers, faculty, graduate students and institutional administrators responsible for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) from Canadian institutions with an opportunity to engage and learn more about RCR from an international perspective. As with previous SRCR travel grants, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the state of progress of research integrity across the globe, discuss RCR challenges and emerging topics, and exchange ideas and experience with national and institutional leaders, policy makers, research funders, professional societies, journal editors, publishers, researchers, educators, administrators, and students. Attendees will also be in a position to disseminate the knowledge and best practices gathered during the conference to enhance their institutions’ understanding of RCR and build on their existing RCR curriculum.

This funding opportunity is expected to:

• Bridge the gap between research evidence and health care practice by providing services to generate evidence and innovations, leading to improvements in patient health, health care and service delivery by:
o Providing support services to respond to patient-oriented research needs of jurisdictional stakeholders;
o Strengthening and maintaining Canadian capacity in Patient-Oriented Research; and
o Engaging stakeholders (e.g. patients, policy makers, health care decision makers, clinicians and researchers) as active partners in both patient-oriented research and the implementation of its results into improved health care for Canadians.
