The annual assessed contribution enables Canada to meet its financial obligations to the Hague Conference on Private International Law, as well as fulfilling Canada's international policy objectives.

However, a major barrier to their widespread use is the difficulty of producing them reliably and at scale — current methods suffer from batch-to-batch inconsistency, degradation over time, and the release of toxic heavy metal by-products. The Project addresses these challenges by shifting from traditional single-batch production to a continuous flow reactor system, enabling the scalable, reproducible manufacture of stable QDs. A key innovation is the development of novel encapsulating layers that protect the particles, lock in toxic components, and provide a versatile platform for attaching targeting or sensing molecules. The Project outcome will be safer, more reliable quantum dots that can be precisely engineered for applications ranging from early disease detection to environmental sensing — bringing transformative QD-enabled technologies meaningfully closer to real-world use.

The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

May 2026 – A rapidly growing Ebola disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare it a public health emergency of international concern. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched a regional emergency appeal in response to the epidemic.

With the support of Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian Red Cross Society will support the efforts of national Red Cross societies to provide lifesaving Ebola prevention and response, as outlined in the IFRC’s emergency appeal focusing on: health services including contract tracing and screening; infection prevention and control measures; sanitation and hygiene interventions; as well as community engagement.

The objective of this project is to enhance the reliability, resiliency, and flexibility of the local distribution grids in the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards, the City of Pembroke, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, and the Township of Whitewater Region, Ontario, through the deployment of smart grid devices and the implementation of an Outage Management System (OMS) to support improved grid monitoring and outage response.

This grant supports the Chippewas of Rama First Nation to participate in First Nations Advisory Circle activities for Rouge National Urban Park, including meetings, correspondence, reviews and operational requests as well as provide advice and guidance on initiatives not covered by specific project capacity funding.
