This 38-month project with Family Services of Peel will develop and implement a pilot project on ‘Mobile Sex Trafficking Prevention and Counselling Services Clinic in the Region of Peel’ to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for survivors of human trafficking.

This will be achieved through the establishment of a mobile sex trafficking prevention and counselling services clinic; the establishment of a team of professionals and survivor leaders to provide health trauma-informed care for survivors/victims of human trafficking; implementation of a collaborative partnerships approach inclusive of survivors leaders, health, justice, faith and social services for 36 months; the establishment of a system of data collection methodologies for impact evaluation; the sharing and presentation of collected knowledge and data through various channels and seminars at regional and provincial levels; and conducting an external evaluation of the pilot project while documenting the impact of the mobile clinic services on survivors of human trafficking.

At the end of the project, the organization will have:
1. Created a mobile model of health and counselling services for survivors of human sex trafficking, who usually do not have easy access to, or prefer not to utilize health care facilities or counselling services, in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon;

This 24-month project with Strides Toronto Support Services will develop and implement a promising practice that will entail comprehensive community outreach, an education strategy and trauma-informed intensive Case Management.

This 50-month project with The Joy Smith Foundation Inc. will develop and implement prevention education and intervention programs to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for at-risk populations and survivors of human trafficking in five designated locations in Canada.

This will be achieved by developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders in designated regions to expand existing education and intervention programs to targeted populations and communities.

At the end of the project, the organization will have established partnerships in five Canadian regions, developed and implemented prevention education programs to identified vulnerable populations, and developed and implemented intervention programs with survivors and community members.

The project will include an external evaluation that will look at the success and scalability of the promising practices.

The supplement and extension will allow the project to expand activities to Alberta and Saskatchewan while also developing a virtual peer group for survivors.

This project aims to improve the capacity to combat human trafficking, reduce impunity for transnational criminal networks, and provide greater human rights protection to victims, particularly for women and girls, in Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Project activities include: (1) providing advanced training program for specialized investigators in Panama on gender-responsive investigation protocols to collection valuable evidence, existing laws and regulations, human rights, gender bias and stereotypes, and trauma-informed human trafficking; (2) developing expert analysis reports on the prevalence of Human Trafficking in the region and the gender-informed response by justice institutions, taking into account human rights, gender bias, stereotypes and Gender-Based Violence, and disseminated among regional justice professionals and policy-makers; (3) conducting regional training workshops on human trafficking and transnational crime for prosecutors, investigators and analysts on Major Case Management, transnational investigations, cyber analysis and financial analysis, with a gender perspective; and (4) providing coaching to prosecutors in strengthening prosecution strategies and techniques for human trafficking cases, using a human rights approach and a gender-sensitive approach.
