March 2020 – Following the outbreak of violence in Northern Rakhine State in August 2017, more than 700,000 Rohingya people crossed from Myanmar into Bangladesh over a period of several months. Currently, there are approximately 855,000 Rohingya refugees living in 34 highly congested settlements in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The speed and scale of the influx has resulted in significant humanitarian needs.

With GAC’s support, Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is helping to respond to the immediate needs of refugees in Cox’s Bazar, focusing particularly on vulnerable households and persons with disabilities. Project activities include: (1) providing protection assistance through case management for individuals with specific needs; (2) extending psychosocial support for those affected by trauma; and (3) providing training to community health workers and community leaders on key sexual and reproductive health issues within the community.

With GAC’s support, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is improving the health and safety of Rohingya women and girls through the provision of integrated sexual and reproductive health services and gender-based violence prevention and response. Project activities include: (1) delivering emergency obstetric, antenatal, delivery and postpartum services; (2) providing comprehensive abortion, family planning and sexually transmitted infection care; (3) offering quality support for survivors of gender-based violence; and (4) developing effective referral pathways for clinical and mental health care, psychosocial support and other health services.

The intent of this project is to hire a full-time software developer (new graduate) to repatriate code previously developed by external contractors and to complete the development of the HotSpot application/website and server back-end. Completing this will create a product that will be able to be marketed and sold to establishments and enjoyed by end-user customers.

Novonix is expanding its capabilities for battery development and assembly work with a focus on new battery materials evaluation and development. This project will involve measuring thermal signatures of lithium-ion electrolytes to develop a novel composition detection method for non-destructive experiments on real lithium ion cells.

This project involves the design and integration of a system for the management and acquisition of three-dimensional images at high speed in real time. In the context of COVID-19, this technology makes it possible to better image the lung in order to better understand the various pathologies that can affect its proper functioning.

The essence of this project is to implement innovative and lean processing initiatives by the new manufacturing skill set recently added to the company. The focus is to increase the PFL capacity for de-hulling and other unique processing systems for fava bean ingredients. Innovative in-house technologies, lean processing expertise and scale-up initiatives will be developed to assure PFL’s ability to meet the growing demand for the company's fava bean ingredient products.

Oceans Lt. requires a full-time marine weather forecaster to support the company's ongoing 24/7 weather forecasting and associated meteorological services. Support from this personnel will include daily marine weather forecasting for Oceans Ltd. clientele, and research & development for various met-ocean research projects.

The primary purpose of the project is to develop a feature to allow creation of leaderboards for our larger camp customers as well as improve several key app features. With the changing economic climate we will look to other markets and create a new product for employee evaluation.

The proposed project will support the commercialization and market adoption of Loft1’s remote whiteboard software.

AI systems that can describe and predict behavior of biological networks of cells, tissues and organisms will allow more accurate, faster and less expensive innovations in life sciences while at the same time ensuring predictable outcomes. In particular, the full potential for safe and efficient utilization of gene editing and live cell therapies requires an ability for controlled design of these modalities with simulations that allow testing and optimization under different conditions in both production and utilization. This project will combine machine learning and mechanistic modeling for the development of simulation of biological systems and link these simulations with learning algorithms for testing and optimizing different designs. The focus of this 2 year project, will be on the development of methods for the simulation and design of desired characteristics of exosomes, as carriers of gene therapies, and development of methodologies for building simulations for HEK293, as major cells for bioreactor production and iPSC cells as major cells in stem and cell therapy development.
This project will focus on the metabolic modelling of quantitative lipidomics data to infer enzymatic disruptions in the lipidome, specifically those lipids metabolized and released as exosomes from IPSC-derived neurons from PD patients and SMA-PME patients.
