The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i. e. , decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

This contribution supports the engagement and consultation of Uchucklesaht Tribe in the development of a new management plan for Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, with a focus on Broken Group Islands Unit.

This contribution supports the engagement and consultation of Toquaht Nation in the development of a new management plan for Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, with a focus on Broken Group Islands Unit.

This grant supports ACAP Cape Breton to share expertise and collaborate with park staff for habitat restoration on Clyburn Brook at Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This collaboration will improve habitat quality and quantity and bolster Atlantic salmon restoration efforts in this watershed.

This contribution supports the continued work of telemetry research into Lake Whitefish habitat to identify priority areas for conservation within Fathom Five National Marine Park and broad actions with Lake Huron. The project applies the principle of “two-eyed seeing” to integrate Indigenous knowledge with quantitative analysis of fisheries data to generate an integrative understanding of recent declines in its population and foster a collaborative approach to support effective fisheries management of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation’s traditional territory and other fishery activities in Lake Huron.

The purpose of this funding is to support Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation in reviewing and commenting on REGDOC 3.2.2 – Indigenous Engagement.

The purpose of this funding is to support English River First Nation in hosting a traditional sweat lodge ceremony in Saskatoon and Cold Lake performed by Elders.

The project consists of in-depth qualitative interviews with Canadian Armed Forces Veterans to explore the experience of participating in disaster relief support with focus on occupation training, career impacts, military-to-civilian transition, and health outcomes.
