The SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships support the most promising Canadian new scholars in the social sciences and humanities and assists them in establishing a research base at an important time in their research careers.

To improve rail infrastructure at road/rail grade crossings

This 17-month project will strengthen the capacity and networks of Pan-Canada ILGA pan-canadien (PCIpc) to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by the development of an effective governance structure; building new and enhanced existing partnerships with LGBTIQ2 organizations to strengthen the not-for-profit LGBTIQ2 sector; by expanding membership; and diversify funding.

At the end of the project, the organization will have become an incorporated not-for-profit organization with an effective strong network and partnerships within the LGBTQ2 community across Canada.

Protecting and promoting the human rights of trans individuals in Anglophone and Francophone Caribbean through civil society and civil registries

This 29-month project will strengthen the capacity and networks of QMUNITY, BC's Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit Resource Centre to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by building managerial capacity, increasing access to evaluation data, knowledge sources and social impact monitoring, and strengthening collaboration among organizations while amplifying sector capacity at large.
At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a new strategic plan, increased capacity for governance and internal policies, created evaluative metrics for programs, conducted a province wide community consultation, and strengthened existing partnerships to streamline LGBTQ2 services in rural and remote communities

The first supplemental funding will be used to operationalize a full time Indigenous outreach worker who will support Indigenous, Indigiqueer and Two-spirit community members and engage Indigenous community members around Truth and Reconciliation activities at QMUNITY.

This 12-month project extension (Phase 2) will improve the capacity, interprovincial reach, and Indigenous relationships of QMUNITY, BC’s Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit Resource Centre necessary to deliver on the empowerment of LGBTQQIA2+ individuals across British Columbia. This will be achieved by engaging an Indigenous Community Panel, recruitment of Indigenous Engagement Coordinators, undertaking and sustaining long-term capacity for Indigenous engagement and programming, and Indigenous and POC Social Impact Research.

At the end of the project extension, the organization will have created sustained capacity in engaging Indigenous communities across the province, as well as creating spaces for Queer Indigenous voices in QMUNITY’s programming and internal procedure.

This 17-month project will strengthen the capacity and networks of Four Feathers Society to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by building board capacity; strengthening collaboration among organizations; improving financial sustainability; increasing access to evidence, data, information and knowledge sources; and amplifying sector capacity at large in order to better support 2-Spirit persons in BC.

At the end of the project the organization will have increased its capacity to engage 2-Spirit persons via online platforms and inclusion gatherings; conducted an environmental scan and needs assessment surveys; created a diversified funding stream; and evaluated their own program and policies to inform a new strategic plan.
