Design of a facility, inclusive of engineering design and research in innovative formulation and fill-finish manufacturing of vaccines, therapies and other biopharmaceuticals using a Ready-To-Use (RTU) container platform for vials and prefilled syringes. Novocol Pharma is a world-class commercial aseptic fill-finish operation with multiple fill-finish suites and scientific/technical support departments (Microbiology, Chemistry, Product Development, Engineering, Validation, Stability and Analytical Services).

An existing warehouse building will be renovated to create injectable vaccine/therapy fill-finish operations with two formulation/ filling clean rooms, each equipped with innovative aseptic VanRx filling work cells... see attachment

To provide employment for a recent graduate in the field of biomedical engineering in the role of technician to develop an in vitro model of wound exudate.

The project is to support the delivery of accurate and timely information to respond to various legal questions in the uncertain times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization will develop and adapt services to respond to increased demands for public legal information and tools to address a multitude of issues affecting Canadians.

The genome foundry is a technology platform that provides an integrated infrastructure enabling the rapid design, construction, and testing of genetically engineered cells or organisms for bio-technology applications and research. The foundry is composed of a computational biology pipeline that integrates this workflow coupled to an integrated suite of robotic equipment specifically configured to automate standard molecular biology procedures required for cellular engineering in an automated and high-throughput (HTP) fashion. The overarching goal is to establish biodesign rules and methods that can be applied towards the efficient engineering of mammalian cells for biotechnology and biomedical applications. Precise and rapid cellular engineering not only allows fundamental insights into the complexity of living systems but also supports the growth of a robust engineering/synthetic biology industry and accelerates the commercialization of biomanufacturing and novel engineered cell therapies. This Project supports the development of the foundry's precision editing platform to accelerate engineering of enhanced safety, efficacy and allogeneic-cell based therapies.

Engage Grants (EGP) are designed to give innovative companies that operate from a Canadian base access to the unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities available at Canadian universities and colleges. These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem; that is, a problem related to the company’s core competencies or activities. The simplified application and decision processes enable university and college researchers to quickly undertake new research collaborations that extend academic expertise to these problems. The mutually beneficial projects are expected to result in economic benefits to the company and to Canada and build impactful longer term collaborations between the applicant and the company.

The Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF) Program provides support to a core of the most promising researchers at a pivotal time in their careers. The fellowships are also intended to secure a supply of highly qualified Canadians with leading-edge scientific and research skills for Canadian industry, government, and universities.
