Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

On-chip true time delay optical beamforming for RF phased arrays
969511
A higher level of integration in photonic circuits leads to smaller BFN dimensions and lower cost. It will implement also true time delay within the BFN, which eliminates frequency specific behavior of beam shaping.

AI enabled satellite communication networks
969587
For efficient operation, the network will have to be autonomous, intelligent, resilient, self-organizing and self-controlling as much as possible to reduce the cost and risk of human intervention in such highly complicated settings. Distributed decision making, fault recovery, resilience, and scalability are among the important features of the envisioned satellite networks. The Project will rely on artificial intelligence (AI) techniques at all levels, including: ground operations, on-board operations, as well as inter-satellite (free space optical communication (FSO)) and satellite-to-ground links (radio frequency (RF) and/or FSO) to advance issues in mobility management and routing in next-generation satellite networks.

The purpose of the program is to provide support to organizations that undertake projects that that contribute to the development and implementation of coastal zone plans, identify restoration priorities, implement projects, and address threats to marine species located on Canada's Coasts. The program would contribute to the mitigation of stressors affecting aquatic habitats and marine life, and would engage Indigenous groups, resource users, and local groups and communities in undertaking planning, restoration, capacity building, monitoring, and reporting activities.
