Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Machine learning-based models for seasonal runoff forecasting in the Canadian Prairie Provinces – tracking season-ahead fresh water fluxes from land to ocean
1003155
An attractive feature of this work is that it will connect mountain headwaters to the Ocean, through Hudson Bay, and will utilize the great potential and prediction skills of rapidly emerging machine learning (ML) techniques. Additionally, correlation and causation analyses will be implemented and their respective outputs will help improve our current understanding of runoff generation mechanisms and controlling factors in prairie landscapes.

Vehicle for Hire Administration suite
999900
In August 2022 Alertdriving launched a driver training program for Vehicle for Hire Drivers (“VFH V1.0”) licensed by the City of Toronto. To date, we have trained 10,000 drivers and expect another 25,000 in 2023. This will generate Alertdriving revenue of approximately $3.0M from August 2022 to December 2023. There are 299 other cities in North America that may require certification. The current program is not scaleable and requires:
• proctor Administration Suite in Alertdriving’s License Management System-efficiency
• exam/test by mobile device without having to attend in person at an Alertdriving examination center-efficiency and market requirement
• enable the assignment of individually assignable courses-additional revenue
