Canada's Fisheries Fund will transform and drive innovation in the fish and seafood sector in Canada with a focus on developing the sector to better meet growing market demands for sustainably sourced, high-quality fish and seafood products.

This project aims to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care for vulnerable and marginalized adolescent girls and young women in Bolivia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ghana, Honduras, Jordan, Lebanon, and the occupied Palestinian territory. Project activities include: (1) educating and working with adolescent girls and young women on topics related to their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); (2) educating and working with adolescent boys and young men on issues such as gender equality, SRHR, and cultural practices related to masculinity, gender, and sexuality; (3) training health care workers to provide inclusive and accessible sexual and reproductive health services and practices, particularly to adolescent girls and young women; (4) providing better equipment to health facilities across the project countries, in order to improve their capacity to offer comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services; and (5) working with civil society organizations and rights’ groups to advocate for better SRHR related policy. The project works to benefit over 90,000 adolescent girls and young women across the project countries. This project works in partnership with Plan International Canada, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada(SOGC), and RNW Media, as well as numerous local women’s rights groups and youth organizations across the project countries.

With GAC’s support, HOPE International Development Agency and its local partner, Metta Development Foundation, support cash programming, health and nutrition, and access to gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health for internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in Kachin State, Myanmar. Project activities include: (1) distributing multi-purpose cash grants to former IDPs returning to their homes, including in support of supplementary feeding for children; (2) providing vocational and technical livelihood training to survivors of gender-based violence; and (3) facilitating comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) training for IDPs.

This project aims to reduce the number of child recruits and child soldiers in countries where the United Nations (UN) conduct peacekeeping operations. The Vancouver Principles on Peacekeeping and the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers are a set of policy commitments focused on protecting children and the prevention of enlistment and use of child soldiers by armed forces and non-state armed groups. This project streamlines the Vancouver Principles and their implementation into the existing UN policy, guidance and training frameworks for child protection in UN Peace Operations with the UN Department of Peace Operations. The UN ensures that the principles are harmonized, implemented and respected by civilian, military and police peacekeepers.

This project includes a gender review of materials for men and women peacekeepers and boys and girls as child soldiers.

The objective of the SDG Funding Program is to support sustainable development projects that: • Support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address sustainable development and the social, economic and environmental issues and challenges; • Develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address sustainable development needs of individuals, families and communities; • Foster partnerships and networks to address sustainable development and the existing and emerging social, economic and environmental issues; • Recognize and support the ability of organizations to identify and address sustainable development priorities; • Recognize and promote engagement initiatives at the international, national, subnational, and/or local level that mobilize assets and develop capacities and resources for action; and/or • Foster Indigenous traditional knowledge on sustainable development.

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;
develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action.

This is accomplished by mobilizing partners at the federal, provincial/territorial and community levels, as well as the private and voluntary sectors, and other stakeholders, to address barriers to well-being faced by those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.
