Project activities include : (1) Gender responsive Nature-based Solutions experimentation-innovation-learning cycles completed with women, girls, and other vulnerable groups; (2) Facilitation of water efficient and nature positive agriculture; and (3) Gender-responsive awareness and advocay campaings carried out on inclusive community and landscape governance, relevant policies, and role of women in biodiversity conservation and landscape governance.

Advances exploratory research under the New Beginnings Initiative

Novel technologies are being developed to harvest energy from renewable sources, but enormous challenges remain. The intermittency of renewable energy sources, the disruption of vastly-deployed fossil fuel based infrastructures and value chains, the heavy reliance on rare and/or conflict elements, closing the loop on carbon, the drastic process intensification required for distributed power generation, and the need for alternative energy-dense carbon-free fuels for long-haul transportation, are only a few challenges in key sectors of the economy. Electric plasma sources and processes offer novel and scalable avenues for the transition, as they offer drastically greener paths to material and energy resource extraction, synthesis, conversion, recycling and utilization. Plasma-catalytic processes, which combine the unique processing conditions of the plasma with the accelerated chemical kinetics attributable to the catalyst, offer great promises to displace large-scale industrial processes, such as ammonia synthesis, nitrogen fixation and syngas production, and to introduce novel processes. The project will build upon NRC’s expertise to synthesize nanocatalyst supports, namely plasma-synthesized boron nitride nanotubes, and PPL’s expertise in plasma-catalysis, to synthesize novel BNNT-based catalysts and develop scalable plasma sources and processes, specifically aimed at ammonia synthesis and dry reforming of methane.

The project team will utilize a quantum annealing processors for replacing the computationally expensive first-principles simulation with synthetic data generated by a quantum-assisted Machine Learning model – the Quantum Variational Autoencoder (QVAE).

Through the establishment of internal learning and development, along with strategic fundraising and sustainability functions, TI will develop standardized GBV curriculum, governance and onboarding frameworks, professional development systems, donor stewardship tools, financial sustainability models, and evaluation and reporting dashboards.

The objectives of the program are to:.•Support greater influence and control over Indigenous ELCC programs and services by Indigenous peoples;.•Improve quality and accessibility of Indigenous ELCC with an emphasis on cultural and language content;.•Support a more holistic and integrated system of quality ELCC services for Indigenous peoples; and.•Adapt and improve existing federal programs to be more flexible, adaptable and horizontal across federal departments as a first step prior to transferring control..

It also seeks to provide customized advice on sovereign debt management through the design and application of analytical tools, provision of tailed advisory services, trainings, webinars and peer-to-peer learning. It also facilitates collaboration among debt management technical assistance providers and dialogue on debt issues among different stakeholders.

Project activities include: (1) technical assistance and training that include the provision of country-tailored advice and global public goods in areas including diagnostic, reform plan and advisory and training to support beneficiary countries’ be better informed when implementing their debt management reforms. 2) peer to peer learning activities to exchange ideas and experiences among practitioners to improve a specific area as well as to foster relationships to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration

Project activities include: (1) delivering grant funding to selected applicants to structure, launch, and expand their blended finance solution; (2) providing technical assistance to selected applicants to develop their capacities to ensure their blended finance vehicles can generate business traction and accelerate the mobilization of capital; and (3) developing a learning hub as a critical knowledge platform, capturing learnings and ensuring knowledge transfer to various actors, thus creating synergies and increasing efficiencies in the climate finance ecosystem.
