The specific objectives of the Canadian 2019-nCoVrapid research funding opportunity are to:

• Contribute to the global response to the 2019-nCoV outbreak;
• Enhance local, national and/or international collaborative efforts to mitigate the rapid spread of 2019-nCoV and its potential negative consequences;
• Strengthen the understanding of the impact of 2019-nCoV on individuals and communities; and
• Provide evidence to inform clinical and public health response, and/or decision-making and planning at national and international levels.

The Project Grant program is expected to:
• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors;
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.

The Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP) Initiative supports innovative, interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects, requiring participation from the natural sciences or engineering community together with the health sciences community. The initiative requires the translation of the research results to knowledge/technology users (KTUs) and related stakeholders outside the academic or training environment. As such, the proposed research projects must have a strong focus on knowledge translation (KT) and lead to health and economic benefits for Canadians through more effective health services and products and/or a strengthened health care system. Projects must include training opportunities for trainees in collaborative and interdisciplinary research of relevance to health, preparing them for employment opportunities in the private, public or not for profit sectors. Given that interactions between personnel from academic institutions and other sectors contribute to knowledge sharing and the development of trainees, CIHR and NSERC encourage secondments, cross-appointments, co-supervision of students, internships, reciprocal laboratory visits and joint workshops.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program aims to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.

The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:

• Enabling research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside of CIHR's current suite of funding programs.

• Supporting individuals and organizations whose goals are consistent with CIHR and its Institutes' vision, mandate and strategic directions.

The ICS Program is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment.

The Indigenous Gender and Wellness Development Grant funding opportunity is expected to:
•Support planning activities that establish priorities for Indigenous-led research projects related to gender and wellness;
•Facilitate relationship building, knowledge sharing and learning that develop and strengthen Indigenous-led, community-based projects; and
•Support the continued development of ideas and plans to implement action-oriented, community-based projects that will improve wellness among Indigenous communities from a gendered perspective.
