The project works to increase policy makers’ awareness of gender gaps in existing policies and programs, with the aim of strengthening these policies in Iraq. The project aims to increase awareness of the need to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) and other harmful practices.

The project aims to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) - such as sexual harassment, intimidation, early marriage and rape - as well as to unhealthy practices.

This project aims to improve the effectiveness of women in United Nations peacekeeping operations. Project activities include: (1) providing specialized training to uniformed peacekeepers; (2) improving the delivery of the Women, Peace and Security Program's mandate; and (3) contributing to the creation of a more responsive environment for peacekeepers.

The project aims to promote gender equality and the social and economic empowerment of women vendors across Pacific Island markets. It is designed to ensure that selected marketplaces in rural and urban areas in Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu are safe, inclusive and non-discriminatory environments, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Project activities include: (1) working with market vendors to support inclusive market vendors associations ; (2) delivering training on basic financial literacy and business skills tailored to the specific needs of the identified women market vendors; (3) providing training to local government and market management to improve market management structures and processes; (4) assessing the needs of women and children in regard to childcare and nursing facilities, health and safety; and (5) improving infrastructure through the renovation and development of market facilities such as washrooms and dormitories.

This 42-month project will help determine equitable pay levels for a range of caregiving services in New Brunswick, which will help caregivers advocate for pay equity and transform the way society measures caregiving value. The additional funding is allocated to complete two job evaluation reports and inform stakeholders and decision-makers of the evaluation results.

The additional funding will allow the undertaking of a second round of Gender Inclusive Leadership pilot training with the larger industry employers that were not able to participate during the first round because of restrictions surrounding COVID-19.

Project activities include: (1) increasing the capacity of health centres to deliver emergency obstetric and neonatal care; (2) providing nutrition and sexual and reproductive health services (including at least five family planning methods); (3) behaviour change communication activities; (4) providing care for victims of gender-based violence; and (5) completing a mapping activity in order to develop a data management system for data on female adolescent reproductive health and sexual and gender based violence.

This project aims to strengthen the justice system’s response to high rates of gender-based crimes in Honduras, including femicides and crimes against LGBTQ2 persons, in eight departments in the country with the highest reported incidence of these offences. The goal is to improve investigations and enhance the prosecution of gender-based crimes through better preparation and argumentation of legal cases and support to and protection of victims.
Project activities include: (1) providing training and technical assistance to investigators, prosecutors and judges on investigation and case management techniques; (2) developing a quality control system for investigations of sexual and gender-based violence; (3) developing a system to monitor the progress and outcomes of all offences reported to the Attorney General’s Office; (4) supporting existing pilot initiatives like the use of video conferencing for testimony to protect the identity of victims and prevent re-victimization, and the use of DNA to enhance the effectiveness of evidence; (5) strengthening government and civil society support structures for victims of gender-based violence.

This project supports UNICEF in strengthening the Ministry of Education and Human Development’s capacity to implement its gender equality strategy to address gender barriers and sexual and reproductive health and rights in education. Project activities include: (1) training of up to 100 education officers, planners and staff responsible for promoting gender equality in order to address gender barriers in education; (2) developing guidelines on menstrual hygiene management and providing gender-appropriate sanitation facilities in up to 28 targeted schools; and (3) mobilizing up to 500 communities in Tete and Zambezia, two of the poorest provinces with a significant number of school-aged children, to reduce gender-based violence, foster safe learning environments and combat child, early and forced marriages.

In addition to addressing gender inequality, the project is helping to build women’s and girls’ capacity to make more informed choices when exercising their sexual and reproductive rights.
