This project aims to reduce sexual violence in Kenya, Somalia and South Sudan. The goal is to deliver the Empowerment Transformation Training (ETT) Program, which is a successful and rigorously tested rape prevention approach that targets female and male youths in schools and community-based organizations. Project activities include: (1) a needs assessment and curriculum development for South Sudan and Somalia; (2) capacity building for training of trainers; (3) monitoring and evaluation; and (4) ETT curriculum delivery to over 25,000 girls and boys, and young women and men (ages 10-22) in designated schools, community-based organizations, churches and mosques.

A fundamental rural development need in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Senegal is the lack of relevant, gender-responsive and timely information, communication and extension services for small-scale farmers (women, men and youth).

The project focuses on the inclusion of women and vulnerable groups and on eliminating differences based on gender, economic condition or place of residence.

The project collaborates with families and communities to create more gender equitable roles and relations inside households. It also supports and reinforces Bangladesh’s own policies and regulations concerning violence against women and generates knowledge and capacity that contribute to more effective prevention of gender-based violence by government and civil society.

Project activities include: (1) providing training, paid internships, coaching and mentoring to Lebanese women and Syrian refugee women to strengthen their abilities to integrate into the economic sphere; (2) offering training, mentoring, marketing and financial support services to women-led businesses in order to improve their productivity and competitiveness; (3) organizing advocacy and awareness-raising activities to strengthen public support of women’s economic empowerment and reduce social barriers; and (4) providing technical, strategic and management training and support to municipalities to better mainstream gender considerations into economic development strategies and interventions.

The additional funding will support and will fill missing gaps in original consultation by connecting with other groups representing the Canadian diversity (Black, Indigenous and gender diverse) who are aging out/or have already aged of the child welfare system in Ontario and Manitoba and will allow Adoption Council of Canada to undertake a national symposium.

This supplement will allow the Canadian Institute of Forestry to undertake the following additional activities: develop a gender equity advocacy toolkit; attain a best practices report from leading international companies that have been certified in gender equality in the workplace certification; and develop communication tools to access women as a potential labour market pool in the forest sector.

This 48-month project will identify and address key policies that create systemic barriers for young women aging out of foster care in five provinces and territories. These barriers include gaps in child welfare permanency planning, education, employment, housing, health care and the justice system.

The ACC will use the supplemental funding to engage a statistician and economist for the analysis and preparation of a forecast for their data, as well as cost out their program and policy solutions from young women and non binary youth aging out of the child welfare system, which will increase the overall impact of the project. This will allow the ACC to more broadly disseminate accurate findings and strategies to a wide variety of stakeholders through their national symposium platform to be held in October 2021.

The goal of the initiative is to develop partnerships that enable reciprocal flow and uptake of research knowledge between researchers and stakeholders, in order to produce evidence-informed and gender-responsive solutions to foster the labour force participation of men and women with health issues and disabilities, as well as older workers with caregiving responsibilities outside their paid work.
