Grants and Contributions

The purpose of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) Education and Training Support (SETS) grant is to provide funding to help with the costs of developing and delivering an education and/or training activity (e.g. workshops, webinars, online education, conferences, etc.). The SETS grant contributes to the costs of activities such as workshops, webinars, online education, and conferences that advance understanding of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) and/or the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR Framework).

The objective of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) with this Travel Grant is to promote RCR and to provide researchers, faculty, graduate students and institutional administrators responsible for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) from Canadian institutions with an opportunity to engage and learn more about RCR from an international perspective. As with previous SRCR travel grants, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the state of progress of research integrity across the globe, discuss RCR challenges and emerging topics, and exchange ideas and experience with national and institutional leaders, policy makers, research funders, professional societies, journal editors, publishers, researchers, educators, administrators, and students. Attendees will also be in a position to disseminate the knowledge and best practices gathered during the conference to enhance their institutions’ understanding of RCR and build on their existing RCR curriculum.

The ICS Travel Awards Funding Opportunity is expected to provide travel funds to individuals in aid of research and knowledge translation activities consistent with the CIHR initiative’s priorities or CIHR institutes’ vision, mandate and strategic directions.

The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) is an international program of research support implemented by the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO).

The Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP) Initiative supports innovative, interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects, requiring participation from the natural sciences or engineering community together with the health sciences community.

The President’s Fund grants are intended to:

support organizations and initiatives whose goal is consistent with CIHR’s vision, mandate and strategic directions;
provide financial assistance for events that will increase CIHR’s visibility such as conferences, workshops or other events where the objectives of the event align with the interests of CIHR overall and not individual Institutes;
provide special, one-time grants to support health research activities where the request falls outside of CIHR’s regular funding programs.

The President’s Fund grants are intended to:

support organizations and initiatives whose goal is consistent with CIHR’s vision, mandate and strategic directions;
provide financial assistance for events that will increase CIHR’s visibility such as conferences, workshops or other events where the objectives of the event align with the interests of CIHR overall and not individual Institutes;
provide special, one-time grants to support health research activities where the request falls outside of CIHR’s regular funding programs.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:
• To provide recognition and funding to academic researchers;
• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.

The CIHR Sex and Gender Science Chairs Initiative is expected to:

• Grow the science of sex and gender research through the development and application of novel methods for elucidating the sex- and gender-related mechanisms that underpin the risk, incidence and response of various health and disease conditions in order to shape new therapies, interventions, programs and policies;
• Increase visibility and position Canada as a leader in discipline-specific sex and gender science; and
• Support capacity building in sex and gender science among the next generation of health researchers.
