This investment will allow Gairdner to expand its programming in key areas that meet the federal government’s mandate to build a better, stronger, resilient Canada with global reach. Specifically:
i) to enhance Canadian Outreach;
ii) to promote Canadian Science at Home and Abroad; and,
iii) to place Canada on the International Stage.

Gairdner’s activities focus on areas such as the promotion of Canadian health research excellence on domestic and international stages, trainee support, capacity building and outreach, and science literacy.

Qualifying United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization buffer zones as Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures within the Long Point Biosphere, Southwestern Ontario

The WER Pilot Program will explore pre-employment, skills development supports as well as models to improve workplace inclusivity. In projects where employers are involved, the program will work with the employers to improve access to employment, or retention in the workplace to improve programming for women in target groups.

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;.develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action..

The objectives of the Program are to: improve quality of ELCC programs and services for all Canadian children and their families by developing innovative approaches, sharing best practices to promote replication of newly developed tools and service delivery models, and increase the sector’s understanding of the changing nature of ELCC across the country; Promote, define and deliver identifiable innovative approaches that would enhance the quality, accessibility, affordability, flexibility, and inclusivity of ELCC systems, with consideration to children and their families facing barriers to accessing quality ELCC; Build and enhance leadership within the sector into the future by providing young leaders with opportunities to promote, support and improve the ELCC sector.

The objective of the WIL Initiatives is to drive systemic change in the skills development system at the PSE level, to effectively align technical, foundational and “work-ready” skills of PSE students with the skills required by Canadian employers – demonstrated by an increase in incremental and sustainable WIL opportunities in sectors targeted by the program; and the continuation of collaborative and innovative partnerships. .
