Provide for the management of communal food, social and ceremonial (FSC) fisheries within integrated management systems that support sustainability and conservation of fisheries resources

The project aims to address the underlying drivers of instability in Iraq and support the Government of Iraq (GoI) in meeting the needs of the Iraqi people. This project supports the Iraq Reform, Reconstruction and Recovery Fund (I3RF), a five-year (2019-2023) World Bank-managed multi-donor trust fund launched in November 2018. The I3RF works to provide a platform for donor coordinated financing, dialogue and engagement with the GOI with a focus on providing technical assistance, pilot programs and advisory support to the GOI’s public investments in socio-economic recovery, reconstruction, national economic and financial governance reform efforts and private-sector-led economic growth. Project activities include: (1) technical assistance and support for innovative pilot programs to increase access to employment opportunities for youth, women, internally displaced persons and the poor; (2) technical assistance and advisory support to the GOI on economic and governance reforms; and (3) multi-stakeholder planning and coordination of reconstruction and development efforts.

This project aims to improve the economic and social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in targeted developing countries in order to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Through the support of 469 volunteer placements, it not only increases the participation of Canadians in international development and key global issues, but also enhances the performance of 51 partners in developing countries in implementing more inclusive, innovative, and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality. The actions of the SUCO volunteer cooperation project respond to the need and urgency to act on the global challenges of climate change, food insecurity, and social and economic inequalities. This project supports partners and institutions in their efforts to carry out collective, concrete and sustainable actions with the most vulnerable populations (particularly women, girls and indigenous peoples).

Project activities include: (1) recruiting and training volunteers on capacity building and development issues, including the rights and participation of women and girls; (2) providing training and/or coaching to partner staff in improving technical and organizational skills; (3) organizing and creating awareness-raising activities and tools on international development issues, including the rights and participation of women and girls, for Canadians; and (4) establishing thematic funds to generate innovative, positive and sustainable solutions for marginalized populations, particularly women and girls.

This project supports 311 volunteer placements, and aims to contribute to the social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, especially women and girls in the target countries with a view to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the participation of Canadians in international development and key global children's rights issues, this project aims to enhance the performance of 32 developing country partners in implementing more inclusive and innovative international development initiatives that advance gender equality. The project also aims to strengthen the participation of children, especially girls, through increased protection of their rights and to build the capacity of the many partner civil society organizations and state institutions so that they are better equipped to promote and enforce the rights of girls and boys by promoting their active participation.

Project activities include: (1) providing training to volunteers on child rights, gender equality, as well as on the development and strengthening of partners' tools, policies and procedures to strengthen protection and rehabilitation services for particularly vulnerable children (e.g. new working tools for the integration of children's rights into police interventions with children in conflict with the law, etc.); (2) producing and/or improving practices among partners in the effective promotion of girls' and boys' rights and in advocacy for improved protection of children's rights (e. g. provide legal advice to support prevention, protection and policy advocacy that helps reduce the impacts of armed conflict on children, adolescents and young girls); (3) raising awareness and popularize child rights and gender equality for vulnerable communities (e.g., provide training to practitioners working with incarcerated youth on child rights and gender equality, and develop new work tools for them); (4) developing awareness materials and share experiences of Canadian volunteers to raise awareness among the Canadian public about girls' rights and gender equality; and (5) establishing a social laboratory for the exchange of practices and knowledge at the national, regional and international levels.

The specific objectives of the Canadian 2019-nCoVrapid research funding opportunity are to:

• Contribute to the global response to the 2019-nCoV outbreak;
• Enhance local, national and/or international collaborative efforts to mitigate the rapid spread of 2019-nCoV and its potential negative consequences;
• Strengthen the understanding of the impact of 2019-nCoV on individuals and communities; and
• Provide evidence to inform clinical and public health response, and/or decision-making and planning at national and international levels.

The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:

- Enabling research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside of CIHR's current suite of funding programs.

- Supporting individuals and organizations whose goals are consistent with CIHR and its Institutes' vision, mandate and strategic directions.

The ICS Program is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment.

The Project Grant program is expected to:
• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors;
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.
