This project proposes supplementing the response to Ebola through stabilization and peacebuilding efforts. The project aims to help contain the spread of Ebola, and reduce the community's violent resistance and mistrust of the Ebola response in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The project also aims to build trust between communities and non-medical state actors, such as elements of the police, loyalist members of the DRC armed forces, administrative officials and media leaders who play a key role in response activities.

Canada's Fisheries Fund will transform and drive innovation in the fish and seafood sector in Canada with a focus on developing the sector to better meet growing market demands for sustainably sourced, high-quality fish and seafood products.

The project aims to improve the well-being of those living in the Gonaïves commune in Haiti. The project works to integrate waste management through allowing the sale of carbon credits and the production of green energy through the recovery of biogas produced by the decomposition of waste, which allows, in the long term, to self-finance waste management operations.

Project activities include: (1) carrying out engineering analyses; (2) installing the first biomethanation plant; (3) closing the current unofficial landfill site and reintegrating the disadvantaged population and women in recycling and waste collection activitie; (4) establishing an energy sales contract and carbon credits; (5) implementing a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness around healthy and smart management of waste and the environment; (6) providing job training in the field of waste collection and landfill management; and (7) establishing a team of waste collection and recycling operators.

The project activities aim to directly reach 50,000 people in Gonaïves (60% of whom are women) by the end of the project.

The Industrial Research Chairs (IRC) are intended to assist universities in building on existing strengths to achieve the critical mass required for a major research endeavour in natural sciences and engineering of interest to industry; and/or assist in the development of research efforts in fields that have not yet been developed in Canadian universities but for which there is an important industrial need; and provide an enhanced training environment for graduate students and, where appropriate, postdoctoral fellows by exposing them to research challenges unique to industry and the opportunity for significant ongoing interactions with the industrial partner(s).

Contribution as part of the Participant Funding Program to Northwatch Coalition for Environmental Protection to assist in preparing for and engaging in Indigenous consultation activities and public participation opportunities associated with the impact assessment process for the Gazoduq Natural Gas Transmission Line Project.

Grant as part of the Participant Funding Program to Foothills First Nation to assist in preparing for and engaging in Indigenous consultation activities and public participation opportunities associated with the impact assessment process for the Prairie Lights Power Project.

Contribution as part of the Policy Dialogue Program to Mark Shrimpton to assist in preparing for and engaging in participation activities associated with the ongoing Review of Legislative, Regulatory, and Policy Development Processes.

To build and demonstrate the STS at a mid-size run-of-river hydroelectric plant and to achieve continuous removal of deposited sediment with the goal of improving operational efficiencies and reducing operating costs.

Colin Rogers will be added to the development team for the InspectAR product. His extensive knowledge of lower level C, C++, will greatly benefit his ability to write low level C# interfacing code, which is required in approaching the robustness in the parser and data analytics. It additionally will help him in architecting new features and systems to computer science best practices, reducing future support for these systems and building in a scalable, extendable way.
