This grant represents Canada's institutional support to the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

CGIAR uses these funds, along with other donors funding, to achieve its mandate. CGIAR’s mandate is to reduce poverty and hunger, improve human health and nutrition, and enhance ecological resilience through high-quality international agriculture research, partnership and leadership. Research is carried out by 15 member centers of the CGIAR Consortium, in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the private sector. Canada’s support to the CGIAR contributes to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and promote sustainable management of natural resources.

Recovery Action for Species at Risk in Western Newfoundland

The Tłı̨chǫ Government will undertake a review of the ‘Land Use Protection Zones’ in the Tłı̨chǫ Land Use Plan, to focus on the Gowhadõ Yek’e t’ii k’e (Traditional Use Zone) 5,521 km² and Tłı̨chǫ Nawoo Ké Dét’ahot’ìı (Cultural Heritage Zone) 16,658 km². This project help will align Land Use Zones with the land use and land protection goals of the Tłı̨chǫ.

This initiative supports CGIAR’s efforts to put gender equality and women’s empowerment at the forefront of global agricultural research for development by leveraging, synthesizing, and filling evidence gaps in its work on gender and climate change, and developing options to integrate gender within climate-focused projects and policies.

CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for a food-secure future.

This will be accomplished in the following ways:
• Through partnership and joint management of distinctions based investments that will enhance and expand Indigenous ELCC, and support the transfer of ELCC to Indigenous organizations;
• Strengthening foundational supports for Indigenous ELCC through, for example, Indigenous led quality improvement projects; and
• Adapting and improving existing federal programs to be more flexible, adaptable and horizontal across federal departments as a first step prior to transferring control, so that programs cohesively support the goals of the Framework including supporting self determination.
