Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Next Gen Manufacturing
963045
Current airframe manufacturing involves the fiber-reinforced thermosetting of plastic-based composites whereby impregnated directional fibers in composite layers are processed to form complex geometries. As a result, significant deformation and defects inside of composite layers are expected and measurement of the fiber's deformation and temperature are required information. This Project involves the development of a multi-functional and multi-purpose quasi real-time and in-situ sensing technology as a precise warning method for early failure. Wireless printed sensors will be designed and then embedded during lamination, targeting individual layers. These electromagnetic printed sensors will ideally be based on inductor-capacitor circuits (LC circuit) and will monitor three primary elements: position, temperature, and crack. This novel approach is minimally intrusive, can be applied to realistic composite shapes, and can provide data in quasi real- time.

Engage Grants for colleges
11020192020Q492
Engage Grants (EGP) are designed to give innovative companies that operate from a Canadian base access to the unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities available at Canadian universities and colleges. These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem; that is, a problem related to the company’s core competencies or activities. The simplified application and decision processes enable university and college researchers to quickly undertake new research collaborations that extend academic expertise to these problems. The mutually beneficial projects are expected to result in economic benefits to the company and to Canada and build impactful longer term collaborations between the applicant and the company.
