Grants and Contributions

The objective of the Applied Research Tools and Instruments (ARTI) Grants is to support the purchase of research equipment and installations to foster and enhance the capacity of colleges to undertake applied research, innovation and training in collaboration with local companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem; that is, a problem related to the company’s core competencies or activities.

The objective of the Applied Research Tools and Instruments (ARTI) Grants is to support the purchase of research equipment and installations to foster and enhance the capacity of colleges to undertake applied research, innovation and training in collaboration with local companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The purpose of this Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) contribution agreement is to support organizations and to identify specific projects or partnerships between the Recipient and international partners in CIIP target countries that could lead to industrial research and development cooperation with potential for commercialization.

The project aims to channel the creativity and the productivity of a new generation of students and young professionals, especially women, to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive growth within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. More specifically, it seeks to deepen the knowledge and develop practical skills of students or mid-level professionals from the ASEAN region in areas of study that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Project activities include: (1) the provision of short-term (up to 8 months) scholarships for study/research for ASEAN students in Canadian post-secondary academic institutions in areas of study that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals; (2) the creation of institutional agreements between Canadian and ASEAN post-secondary academic institutions; (3) the provision of short-term scholarships for ASEAN mid-career professionals working in sectors that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to enhance their knowledge and skills in their area of work; and (4) the creation of an alumni network.

Through contribution agreements, the CFLI provides financial assistance to cover all or part of the costs of relatively modest projects conceived, designed and implemented mainly by local authorities, institutions or organizations. The program aims to assist in the advocacy of Canada’s values and interests, and to strengthen Canada’s bilateral relations with foreign countries and their civil societies.

Enhancing access to justice and raising awareness of human rights violation and the ongoing legal impacts in Thailand after the 2014 coup, through legal aid, publication and exhibitions.

The United Nations (UN) has identified a lack of French language skills as one of the largest capacity gaps within UN peace operations missions. This project represents Canada’s contribution, along with other donors, to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the implementation of a two-day seminar titled “Francophone Seminar on Peacekeeping” taking place 24-25 June 2019.
