Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

An Open Geospatial Standard-based Spatio-temporal Stream Processing Platform for IoT Devices
947944
SensorUp is developing the world's first United Nation’s ITU-T and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard-based spatio-temporal streaming platform for the Internet of Things. The firm is looking to use space and time as the universal index to interconnect the Internet of Things devices and applications. The key goal is to develop a scalable and interoperable IoT data stream-processing platform that can connect (100+ Million and beyond) things, and each of them carries various number of sensors. Specifically SensorUp's platform will focus on managing, processing and analyzing continuous spatio-temporal data streams from moving things that collect sensor data in real-time. It also needs to handle unlimited number of users in real-time with fine grained security.

Software Enhanced 5-Axis CNC Machines for Advanced Applications
947970
The project requires the design and production of mechanical, electrical and software systems to introduce 5 axis milling products, which include an advanced control system and software. The developed 5 axis machines would become a new product line of machines purpose-built for 5-axis cutting operations.
By way of background, CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machines involve taking digitized data, a computer and CAM program is used to control, automate, and monitor the movements of a machine. Our CNC router machines are 3 axis and cut with a physical tool a wide range of materials including wood, plastics, metals, foam, and other materials. 5 axis adds the ability to tilt and rotate the router tool to a greater extent.
