This project will reinforce the universalization and effective implementation of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Project activities will include: (1) targeted outreach to promote universalization of the BTWC in Africa; (2) legal and regulatory assistance to States Parties; (3) training and capacity building to support the submission of Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs); and (4); outreach and training to support national coordination and implementation of the BTWC.

The project aims to support the capacity of Jordan’s Armed Forces (JAF) to counter threats of terrorism by improving their ability to better identify, communicate and respond to potential threats. Through improved management and analysis of large amounts of data, the JAF will be better able to produce intelligence in support of counter terrorism operations. Project activities include: (1) Provision of secure IT equipment and software. (2) Training in the use of data management systems. (3) Development of policy and practices for management, analysis and distribution of intelligence produced from data.

This project aims to further enhance the capacity of Jordan and other countries in the region to prevent, detect and respond to a range of chemical and biological threats through the provision of capacity building, training and tools. Project activities include: (1) develop and deliver training to regional partners in Jordan; (2) enhance and integrate Jordan’s laboratories into national frameworks; (3) enhance women’s inclusion in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) risk reduction efforts in Jordan; and (4) raise awareness of insider threats and importance of biological incident reporting.
