Thunder Bay Counselling will hire a psychotherapist to specialize in trauma-informed care for gender-based violence and sexual assault. Specialized counselling will be developed to meet the needs of underserved communities. Enhanced support will be provided to help victims understand the impact of sexual violence and how to access justice.

Victim Services of Kingston and Frontenac and the Kingston Police are launching a Sexual Assault Support Program to empower survivors with information on safety, rights, and justice. Planned activities include hiring a support worker, training officers, and developing resources.

The organization’s “Justice For Me Too" project will provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive support to victims and survivors of sexual violence. Two independent Sexual Violence Counsellors will work directly along side the Special Victims Unit of the Peel Regional Police. The project will also include training for Peel Regional Police Officers and Crown Attorneys in the Region of Peel on trauma-informed practice and restorative justice alternatives.

The main objective of this project is to create an entirely new avenue for victims of crime transiting the Criminal Justice System providing a degree of choice, voice and agency unmatched, historically, in Canada to date; an alternative to traditional, adversarial court room processes.

The Multicultural Health Brokers Co-operative (MCHB) will implement a project called Culturally Responsive Access to Justice (C-RAJ) to provide equitable access to the justice system for migrants, immigrants, and refugees impacted by domestic violence. The project includes a partnership with Nalah, an initiative of the Edmonton John Howard Society (EJHS) that is staffed with Justice Support Workers (JSWs) who receive referrals from the Edmonton Police Service. MCHB's cultural brokers act as cultural guides, navigators, mediators, advocates, and community connectors, working with the survivor in the context of the needs of the family. The targeted approach was meant to help break the cycle of family and sexual violence through legal information, legal system navigation, and increasing access to culturally responsive community resources.

The Client Support and Systems Navigator Pilot Project will provide trauma-informed and client-centred services for survivors of sexual violence, their families, and service providers. It engages with law enforcement to ensure processes for reporting and investigating sexual violence are conducted in a client-centered way. The project will provides ongoing systems navigation and client advocacy for victims to navigate their options for justice and reporting after an assault.

The “Sexual Violence Response Advocate” project will provide the services of a dedicated advocate to address systemic and societal factors faced by victims of sexual violence through trauma and violence informed programming. The advocate will provide improved access to the Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP+) and court support and accompaniment to navigate the justice system. The project will also allow the organization to create and deliver a campaign entitled “Nothing to See Here” generating awareness around sexual violence online through cyber-crime and online extortion involving the non-consensual distribution of intimate images and child sexual abuse materials. The organization will lead the development of a technology safety toolkit to be shared publicly in the community to assist victims of these types of crimes to proactively protect themselves, as well as prevent any further harmful behaviours from occurring.

This project focuses on the development of a high-performance on-chip multi-wavelength coherent comb light source through the hybrid integration of key photonic components, including a quantum dot (QD) comb laser, QD semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), optical isolator and polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber. The core activities will involve establishing optical interconnections between these components using novel advanced technologies, such as 3D-printed polymer micro-optics, culminating in a proof-of-concept demonstration. This project will be executed in collaboration between the NRC and Aeponyx, the two primary partners contributing the necessary expertise and technologies to achieve the project’s final goals

The firm will develop an AI-based capability into its cloud-based permitting and licensing platform. This capability will deliver features using AI at its core to generate well written and formatted documents, and also add AI enabled technology to fast track permitting processes.

Project will focus on a comprehensive approach to enhancing business competitiveness.
