Grants and Contributions

The Sachs Harbour Hunters and Trappers Committee will implement the Country Foods Processing & Chiller Facility Development Project to enhance food security and promote economic development within Sachs Harbour. The project aims to establish a modular processing facility for country foods, enabling the community to harvest, process, and store local foods such as fish, muskox, and waterfowl, while also contributing to the country food program and regional cooperation through product shipments to the ICEDO facility, in Inuvik.

The Tłıc̨hǫ Investment Corporation is receiving $253,000 (80% of project costs) towards a two-year $287,000 project to generate three different strategic plans; one for infrastructure within the Tłıc̨hǫ Region, one for development of the Tłıc̨hǫ people to better support their participation in the economy, and one for better Tłıc̨hǫ participation within the Giant Mine Remediation Project.

HyperYou, Inc. (HyperYou) will undertake a AI commercialization project to demonstrate and refine their prototype. 

The Indigenous Creatives Alliance (The Alliance), based in Whitehorse, Yukon will undertake a project aimed at becoming a self-sustaining social enterprise. The Alliance supports Indigenous artists by enhancing their skills and expanding their market reach, creating an ecosystem that boosts their businesses and economic opportunities.

The NWT Business Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC) will receive funding toward a 3-year project to boost the grant values awarded to successful NWT Business applicants of the Canadian Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) and Accelerate Digital Adoption Projects for Tomorrow (ADAPT) programs.

The Inuvialuit Community Economic Development Organization (ICEDO) will expand its Country Foods Processing Plant in Inuvik to create a permanent facility aimed at addressing food insecurity and promoting economic opportunities in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.

Yukon Soaps Company will conduct research on building a regenerative economy centered on restoring Indigenous connection to the land through land based employment that is culturally and environmentally sustainable. It will explore the demand and need for non-timber forest products, barriers to land-based employment, challenges to accessing the land, and relevant opportunities related to building a regenerative economy centered on these resources.

The PS752 Commemorative Scholarship Program is a meaningful tribute to the 176 victims who tragically lost their lives in the PS752 flight disaster on January 8, 2020. Among these victims were brilliant minds and dedicated students who significantly contributed to Canada’s educational institutions. Over the next 5 years, from 2023 to 2028 academic year, Global Affairs Canada will offer 176 scholarships to international and Canadian post-secondary students studying in Canada to honour their legacies.
A minimum of 70% of the scholarships will to be granted to international students, reflecting the percentage of international passengers on Flight PS752. This prestigious scholarship offers applicants the chance to receive an average of $25,000.
