About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

The purpose of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) Education and Training Support (SETS) grant is to provide funding to help with the costs of developing and delivering an education and/or training activity (e.g. workshops, webinars, online education, conferences, etc.). The SETS grant contributes to the costs of activities such as workshops, webinars, online education, and conferences that advance understanding of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) and/or the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR Framework).
The objective of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research (SRCR) with this Travel Grant is to promote RCR and to provide researchers, faculty, graduate students and institutional administrators responsible for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) from Canadian institutions with an opportunity to engage and learn more about RCR from an international perspective. As with previous SRCR travel grants, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the state of progress of research integrity across the globe, discuss RCR challenges and emerging topics, and exchange ideas and experience with national and institutional leaders, policy makers, research funders, professional societies, journal editors, publishers, researchers, educators, administrators, and students. Attendees will also be in a position to disseminate the knowledge and best practices gathered during the conference to enhance their institutions’ understanding of RCR and build on their existing RCR curriculum.
