Support The Governors of the University of Alberta with the Faculty Mobility Proposal

This project will further support NTI’s role as Secretariat of the IPNDV, particularly the implementation of Phase 2 of the Partnership’s work. This will include:

(1) support for the IPNDV Plenary and the three Working Groups;
(2) support for the IPNDV’s outreach activities; and
(3) support for NTI staff time for the IPNDV

The goal of this project is to obtain improved learning outcomes for women and girls in crisis, conflict and fragility situations and humanitarian settings in Pakistan.

The project works to improve access to quality education in two of the eight newly-merged districts of Kyber Pakthunkhwa.

Project activities include: (1) reconstructing 155 damaged schools, providing furniture and other gender-appropriate supplies; (2) training teachers; and (3) mobilising community members to allow girls to attend school, and supporting the Khyber Pkahthunkwa government in girl-friendly policy formulation and implementation in the education sector.

It is expected that 13,925 children (65% girls) benefit from access to quality education across 155 formal schools; provide for 100 Early Childhood Education classes; support 55 middle schools (exclusively for girls); provide learning opportunities to 310 teachers (50% women); and empower 155 parents-teachers associations in the target districts.

The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The purpose of this CanExport Innovation (CXI) grant agreement is to support organizations and to build on targeted relationships between Canadian companies/researchers and key organizations in other countries to allow them to proceed with formal discussions to initiate collaboration(s) on future international R&D initiatives that could lead to commercialization of Canadian technologies.

This two day workshop (with two “one on one” follow up sessions) run by Dr. R Cooper and Mike Wiebe provides true practical insight into a method for critiquing and classifying potential product ideas while providing a frame work to decide which ones progress through full product development.

The project aims to increase the support services for victims of sexual exploitation who have decided to leave their abusive environment and who need help to normalize their civil status and health status, find housing and to initiate job searches in order to undertake their social reintegration. Two-hour workshops, the content of which is based on image reconstruction and skills development, will be offered on subjects as varied as self-knowledge, reappropriation of sexuality and family economics.

The project will utilize existing incubation/acceleration space to offer support to women entrepreneurs at the early start-up stage and those looking to accelerate and scale their businesses.
