The project seeks to establish a program to support and strengthen the natural resource sector and related downstream activities in Ontario.

Contribution as part of the Policy Dialogue Program to Mark Shrimpton to assist in preparing for and engaging in participation activities associated with the ongoing Review of Legislative, Regulatory, and Policy Development Processes.

In cannabis, specialized structures on flowers produce unique compounds with medicinal importance. This project will investigate the physical and chemical landscape of these surface structures through the application of 3D imaging and synchrotron light technologies, revealing how the broad range of medicinal compounds are sequestered on cannabis flowers. Funds will be used for research costs related to plant material production.

Participation in the ITEA International Customers and End-Users Workshop on Smart Mobility held in Stockholm, Sweden June 12-13, 2019 with a Canadian delegation led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to establish relationships with key customers, end-users, and other international firms, which will help set the stage for potential Canadian projects in the upcoming EUREKA ITEA Cluster call for proposals.

AIS would like to take its BigTop autonomous vehicle technology designed to tackle challenges greenhouse nurseries facing in terms of labor shortage and cost, as well as increasing their output, quality and safety into USA market.

Over the next five years, Family Plus/Life Solutions will develop and implement a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in the Region of Saint John, New Brunswick. The centre will offer a multidisciplinary service to address the needs of child and youth victims and/or witnesses in the criminal justice system, thereby minimizing system-induced trauma by providing a single, child-friendly setting for young victims or witnesses and their families seeking services.

The activities of the organization support justice related activities that respond to the priorities of the Government and of the Department particularly in the areas of: protecting victims of crime, in particular children who suffer sexual exploitation; human trafficking, especially women and children; helping to develop more cost effective and fair justice systems in Canada and abroad; promoting effective international cooperation in tackling transnational organized crime and corruption; and, mental health issues in the criminal justice system.

The organization will develop and provide an empowerment and leadership training and healing program for young Indigenous girls and women. The program will provide opportunities for participants to experience a positive transformation with an increase in their Indigenous knowledge, self-identity, self-esteem, sense of belonging, and connection to culture, thus reducing their risk of being exploited and increasing their opportunities for mentorship and leadership in the community.

In June 2019, Legal Aid Ontario will host the International Legal Aid Group (ILAG) Conference in Ottawa, Ontario. The purpose of the conference is to facilitate discussion and dialogue of international developments in policy and research related to legal aid services. This will improve evidence-based policy-making and improve access to justice. The conference will provide a forum for the identification and understanding of important issues and trends, gaps and opportunities for innovation in the provision of legal aid services and access to justice. Conference participants will include chief executives and managers from Legal Aid Commissions, senior policy makers in government ministries, and academics working in the access to justice field.
